When I go back to HK, it's always about the street food and Dai Pai Dong ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dai_pai_dong). These are the real delicacies of Hong Kong where I can't find anywhere else. |

If you want good 'cha chan teng' HK cafe food, check out "Tsui Wah" they have several locations in Hong Kong and Kowloon. Or try "hong sik cha chan teng" in Central.

When are you coming back? You can take me there. I'll introduce you to some good restaurants I know of too.

When I was there I had MX (mei sum) quite frequently as a matter of fact
Think of it has fast food version of honolulu
My personal fav during my last visit was having the hot pot rice on temple street haha.
Granted its dirty but the atmosphere and the freshness of these hot pot rices really makes it up

I can't believe what I am reading here. Someone is visiting Hong Kong, and you are telling them to go to crappy fast food joints where people only go to by "default". The food at these places ranges from "acceptable" to "terrible". Some are better than others (Cafe de Coral is probably the best, MX/Maxim is the worst, Fairwood somewhere in between) but still not worth your time visiting if your trip to HK is limited.
I just came across this blog that has some decent suggestions for places to eat. If one is visiting Hong Kong for a short time, there are an infinite number of places to try out. And none of them should be fast food joints.

hahahha, Cafe De Coral is cheap and that's about it. Everything is pre-made and just reheated for you. So if you like soggy baked pork chop then yea its for you. Most of these places are great to grab a quick bite but nothing fantastic.
I really liked Australian Milk Company though. Not fancy or anything, but the best scrambled eggs I've ever had in my life haha.
