Retail is something like $800. If you have a student email address for most post-secondary schools, you can get in on this.

I got mine last year when they had this deal.

Get it while you can.

why buy when you can get it for free?

If everyone got it for free, it wouldn't be avaliable.

Newer copies? What are you talking about.

Best buy has it for $900.

Some people prefer purchasing a legitimate copy rather than deal with a pirate version.
That is a pretty good deal. It looks to be cheaper than the reseller discount.

Hey, thank this guy for showing us this deal. 500+ off? Who wouldn't pass, too bad most people would pirate this junk.

Most of the programs are useless anyways, who really uses all or most of the programs?

It's a win for MS, really. Students are, generally, thought to be poor, and they'd just pirate the software. Make it cheap enough for them to buy it, and they'll make a little money vs making no money at all.

Companies. $900 is peanuts for a lot of firms. And the programs are actually useful...if you learn how to use them.

For example, design engineering firms that use Catia (a 3D modelling program) pay $100,000 a year plus $15,000 year per copy.

When I was in school, they didn't have student version so everyone would just pass around the CD. I think MS realized all the students were going just going to pirate if they put cut throat rates.

plus the schools themselves buy legit, albeit bulk, copies. All I use is Word, Excel and PowerPoint. I'd get 07 for the $64 as it's a good deal and worth it except I hate 07 with a passion. It works great for basic users but everything else is impossible to find. that and the stupid X formats.

seems like they have this deal on going forever
even though they keep saying it expires on a certain date

Bought this last year for $64. Hell of a deal.

You'd have to be a frickin' idiot to try and download a pirate version, try to get support and updates, worry about viruses or malware and all the other crap that goes on with illegal copies. Who in their right mind is that fucking cheap?

Besides, you pirate you're an asshole. Plain and simple.

I thought so too and I saw the date of this thread.

Oh well, again, great deal.
I'd hop on this if I didn't already have a copy.

Ya, they seem to have it every year but it's not always avaliable. I looked for it a couple months ago for a friend but was not offered.
