Cool "hole in the wall" restaurants in Vancouver?

Looking for some neat food places to hit up; like those kinds of small, one-off, family owned hole-in-the wall restaurants with great food.
We went to Jamaican Pizza Jerk on Commercial Dr. last week and it was great. $45 we got a large pizza with jamaican jerk chicken and fresh tomatoes, goat curry, jerk chicken and fish roti.
Thanks

there are tons of hole in the wall.
chinatown, there are a few '# 9 type restaurants' that are freaking awesomeness to the max. their noodles are great.
the only = best hold in the wall place. they were shut down few weeks ago, not sure if it's opened again.

There's a Chinese restaurant with a British sounding name (Thomas? Thompson?) by the Save on Foods on #3. Pretty good.
Hiroshi's Sushi Creations on Oak st & 22nd or 19th ave. Former owner of Kokoro on Lonsdale.

Do you know if they just serve the jerk chicken? I've always wanted to try it.
My cousin mentioned a malay place on Main, Hawkers Delight. I've never been there myself but I heard it was alright.

Yeah they do, but when I had it it wasn't very impressive. Kind of dry and not spicy enough; perhaps the chef (Bounty Hunta) turned down the spice seeing a brown, chinese and russian guy come in.
Thanks for the suggestions, we've found a few that look quite interesting:
Big Al's Soul Food in Bennett Center has Louisiana Cuisine and a buffet Friday nights. Too bad it's closed for Good Friday!
Don Guacamoles on Robson, apparently it's authentic Mexican and lots of real Mexicans in Vancouver go there regularly.

^ +1 for the Brave Bull steak house.
Can't go wrong with $8.95 Prime Rib. The price hasn't changed for many years.
Tried it with a buddy, as its once of those vintage places around Vancouver.

ya, the old lady is really nice, my friend talked to her for over an hour when we were eating and she told my friend her life story pretty much. the area is sketchy but the restaurant is actually pretty decent, old school 80's look. decent place and good price

Argo Cafe. Main and 2nd area. Low price, but high quality food. Only opened for breakfast + lunch. Food is amazing. Menu is different everyday. Usually super packed at lunch. Looks like a dump from the outside. Almost makes you think you're at the wrong place. Once you sit down and eat it's a whole new story.

Deacon's corner, north end of Main street, right before the shipping port.
BIG breakfast, great prices, and coffee is included in the price.
I had the sausage, biscuits and gravy... almost had a heart attack and was stuffed for the rest of the day.... for < $10. Sooooo good.

"Hole in the wall" doesn't necessarily mean a dirty place. The way I see it, it's a simple, authentic, unpretentious place that is not very well known.

so ur definition of a hole in the wall is the decor ?
i thot it was mainly about the food
and that not a lot of ppl tried that place out...and just walk/drive by it without realli noticing it
so i assume all the high class restaurants are considered hole in the wall for u? haha

To me.. a HOLE IN THE WALL RESTAURANT --> Food speaks for the restaurants reputation..
no need for advertisements everywhere, hot waitresses, stupid gimicks, and posh decor.
I would say modern club, honolulu cafe, au petit cafe, cafe delight.. etc....

I personally like Fresgo Inn in Surrey. Not sure if it's what people would normally call a hole in the wall restaraunt, but I've been going to that place since I was really young, when it still had a location in Downtown.
I love the double mushroom burger. They also have ribs and chicken, served with a plate of spaghetti. Good value imo.
