Did you fart?
yeah i did, but my farts dont smell like 87 octane...
usually you will feel the sheer force of the airwave towards you first, then followed by the sonic boom, then the aftershock of the smell...

Wow, so sad. Didn't another biker die last year on Granville St?

werd. do you have a license already? i'm looking into getting one this summer, still pretty iffy =/
RIP Jason Miller
Biking is just too dangerous with all the crazy drivers...
One fault on their part (or yours) and it's pretty much GG.

An elderly woman killed the other Biker last year on Granville and now this.....
"Jason was riding his bike north along Granville St. At 49th Ave he continued straight through a yellow light. Unfortunately, an elderly couple didn't see him and turned left." - Angie, Jason's close friend

Serious...
Once I have some loot saved up...I plan on going to school and get my test dont there too...then go out and buy a bike.
There is empowering feeling when riding a bike...to reduce risk..I wont solely rely on my bike for tranportation.

IIRC, there was an accident last year northbound on Oak at 33rd where a biker was hit by an elderly woman turning left, thereby propelling him into a pole.
It was quite a terrible scene from what I recall.
Anyways, I have several friends that want to get their licenses and as much as I don't want to be Debbie Downer, I would hate to lose any one of them to someone else's negligence which often seems to be the case in these incidents.
RIP to Jason Miller and my condolences to his family and friends.

Usually it's always the Drivers fault...not the rider..
Riding a bike requires a sixth sense...they're better drivers than car drivers...you can predict stupid drivers moves but sooner or later you're going to get caught.

Indeed. I don't doubt that my friends could be excellent riders. But all it takes is one stupid move from someone driving a 4-wheeler to have their life taken away.

There's nothing wrong with getting a bike license and purchasing a bike.
it's a risk you take everytime you ride and it's up to you how much risk you're willing to live with (ie: if i had a baby on the way, i would probably give up riding for a while).
on the brightside, that rider passed away doing something he loved, enjoying the ride. it's unfortunate really, but it was an accident and i do feel bad for that elderly couple who have to live with it.
RIP rider.

And this is why you go through intersections VERY carefully on a bike.
Not sure about this particular one, but most actually happen when the rider tries to run a yellow at the intersection. You can get away with it in a car, but NEVER on a bike.
Oh, and for all of you iffy people, pay the $ and take a course. They'll teach you what to do in these situations. In this case, you move to the RIGHT side of your lane so that oncoming traffic sees you 0.5s sooner. AND you prepare to stop completely if need be.
RIP.

I just bought a 125cc... this is pretty discouraging. Granted he did try to run a yellow, and he must have been going fast... the 125 will barely hit 80.

i don't think it's fair to assume that he was trying to run a yellow light or travelling above the speed limit. for all we know, the elderly couple quite possibly did not see him at all and just turned, who knows.
good on you for buying a 125cc to start with though.

In any case, poor guy. :(
I dunno about the 125cc. Imho, you're just gonna get bored real fast. People can start on 1L bikes if they can handle the weight of the bike. It's all about keeping your head on straight and not being an asshat on the roads. (ie Luc Bourdon)
