80km/h with 2 people on there?
Most 50cc scooters top out around 60-70 with one person. How can the Derbi go 80 with two people?

I had an old co-worker that said that you can mod 49cc's to gain more power therefore making it capable to carry a passenger.

yamaha BW 50 2 - stroke
can take 2 people easily
stock it'll do 65 with 2 people
u can change the drive belt to make it have a higher topend and through on a pipe for more power
kymco has some nice scootes, and piaggio,
get a BW, they are cheap to fix and theres tons of them around

something tells me you can't have a passenger on a scooter w/ class 5. but you'd have to look it up.
arent there turbo kits out for the kymco scooters too?

You can have a passenger with your class 5 on a 49cc or less scooter. I used to have a stock Yamaha BWS and it was great getting around Vancouver. With two people I could hit 60kmph full throttle on flat ground. If you plan on having a passenger often get a two stroke as they seem to have more power. Riding two up, I was able to keep up with a Honda Jazz, both 49cc bikes.

^^^ yeah, ICBC's website doesn't have any restrictions on the number of passengers for scooters.

it's not difficult to find a replacement engine...
7hp 125cc (80km) and 10hp 150cc (100km) are like couple hundred bucks

^ Having just come back from Vietnam, I've seen up to 4 people regularly on a scooter. Two kids and two adults.
Edit: I've even seen some dude carry a small fridge and another carry a 40" plasma tv!!
