RCMP in Surrey responded to a complaint of a robbery at a fast food restaurant at 11:40 pm last evening in the area of 96th Ave & 160th St.

A male walked up to the drive through window with a portion of his shirt pulled up to cover his face & presented a knife to the attendant demanding cash. As the suspect was reaching in through the window attempting to grab monies from the cash drawer, with the female attendant yelling at the suspect another staffer in reaction to what was taking place threw a litre of boiling oil on to the mans face who in turn fled the area on foot.

While an undisclosed amount of cash was obtained, some of the monies were left behind on the ground below the drive through window & subsequently recovered by police.

The suspect is described as: possibly a South Asian male, 6 feet tall, 20 - 25 years of age, slender build. It is believed the he may be suffering from burns to his face and neck area.

RCMP in Surrey are asking anyone with who may see someone matching this description with apparent burns to his face and neck to call the Surrey Detachment at (604) 599-0502 or Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
