Well since the Swine Flu is about to mutate to its next form any time soon I beleive its only safe to start searching for a suitable gas mask when the time for skull bashing arrives. I've kept my eye on two distinct models:

Now the ISRAELI Youth Gas Mask is much cheaper than the K-1 Military Gas Mask but during times of emergency I believe a good quality mask is absolutely necessary. Anyone have experience with any of the above or have any recommendations?

That surplus is the biggest rip off ever. They over charge on everything and their target market is aimed primarily at amateur/inexperienced people who will fork over their money for being overly zealous.

I wouldn't buy any of those because:

1) You need to have a mask that gives a good seal to your face... otherwise it's useless.
2) You need to have an appropriate filter (for whatever you want to filter) to go with the mask and that's hard/impossible to come by.
3) Even if you got both, you still have to perform a leaktest in the lab to ensure that the filter is actually filtering whatever you want it to filter. I've seen a filter fail before...

For real though, I remember wearing one of these when I caught a cold. My nose stopped running after putting this on.
