Three men want investigation into mistaken identity beating case
RCMP have already issed apology into November 2008 incident

SURREY (NEWS1130) - Three men are demanding the 'Commission for Public Complaints against the RCMP' look into a November 2008 incident were they claim they were beaten by RCMP officers conducting a raid at a Surrey apartment building. They say it was a case of mistaken identity.

In a statement, Iranian refugee Emad Hovaizavi says he was in pure terror when members of the RCMP's Emergency Response Team smashed in a number of doors in the apartment building he lives in. He says officers demanded the people apartment 206 come out...but he and his two friends were in apartment 205.

Hovaizavi's lawyer Craig Costantino says without warning, the men were beaten, and bitten by a police dog. "There were some shouts out in the hallway, two of them heard that they were supposed to get down on the ground and put their hands on their heads, which they all did. A couple of them tried to shout out that they were in unit 205. They stayed there motionless on the floor and the next thing they knew a dog came in, bit him on the leg and dragged him into the hallway."

Costantino says all three men have suffered from anxiety, nightmares and loss of sleep since the incident. He also says RCMP Superintendent Wayne Rideout issued an apology, and since the incident the RCMP has admitted it had no search warrant for apartment 205. The complainants says they've learned that the ERT had warrants for apartments 201 and 206.

unless you are train in any kind of martial art it would be hard trying to fight off a police dog.

they are train to bite and hold and shake. their pain threshold is pretty high too. police dogs have been know to take bullets and still continue attacking/holding on to his "prey"

hold his 2 front legs and pull em side ways (doing a split) it should break his rib cage or something and kill it

the picture only showed the bruise on the guys arm the guy who was bit in the leg supposedly has nerve damage

i've heard (multiple times) whenever the ERT goes in they beat the shit out of people first before asking questions; so im kind of surprised these guys are only complaining about a kick in the ribs and dog bites

No thanks, I don't like the snow.

Does racism have to be so obvious as KKK meetings for you to acknowledge it? Lets hope not.

Hanging out in the wrong places? Would that be West van where all the rich people hide from the rest of Vancouver? Or Richmond where all the Asians stick to themselves? Or Surrey where all the Indians congregate? Or maybe under a bridge where the Aboriginals have been stuck. Or the DTES with all the homeless?

For the most "left" city in Canada, the racial/economic separation of people is hard to turn a blind eye to, maybe you have cause you've lived here so long. You can say that's not technically "racism" if you want, that's its just "sticking with their own kind"

People here care so little they don't even acknowledge the presence of the homeless anymore, my first walk downtown was eye-opening, even arrogant Torontians aren't so heartless.

First of all, I've lived with racism my whole life. I'm a halfer. I've gotten used to it, and that's a sad thing.

As for the people on the street? If you have a solution, I'd love to hear it. I guess there aren't any homeless people living in Toronto.

You say people don't care, I guess you haven't opened your eyes enough. Every day, I see people giving money, food, clothes. Some of these people on the streets definitely need help, while others simply don't want it. I'd love to hear your solution for mental illness and drug addiction. Or do you not have that in Toronto again?

Just last week, the Fox helped get an addict sponsored into treatment. I guess we're closed hearted that way here. I know people who have ended up on the streets and turned their life around. They wanted to, so they did. It's not an easy solution here. Over 1 billion spent on trying to fix the problem, trying to find out how to help the people in need. I guess 1 billion wasn't enough, or they just used it the wrong way. I'm no expert on the issue, so I cannot really say what was done right or wrong. You however seem to be, so let's hear your ideas.

Most immigrants, especially asian and Indian are conservative fiscally, and the BC liberals are definitely fiscally conservative.

First of all, I've lived with racism my whole life. I'm a halfer. I've gotten used to it, and that's a sad thing.

I'm pure, unadulterated, blindingly white, and I've experienced major racism towards myself in BC, though it tended to be situated around Vancouver and Richmond, two cities I've had to work in and two areas where the White Man were visual minorities. Racism is never something someone should have to get used to dealing with, but in a perfect world, it should never be something we have to deal with in the first place.

TekDragon

I did read your post, and I can appreciate your point of view, just as I do in this one right here. Lots of people here acknowledge the homeless. I can't count the number of times I've given my lunch away or taken the time to buy a homeless person food. I care, so do many other people out here. Look at the Gospel Mission, or even the safe injection site. These are set up to help.

Obviously I won't be changing your mind on the issue and I don't really care that I won't. You're simply one more person not caring about the issue. I think that the DTES and other homeless areas are simply forgotten about because people become numb to them.

Along with that, I've nearly been attacked twice by a homeless person for offering help. I've also had some of those people not want me to buy them food. They wanted money to get drunk or high. What about the senior citizen (http://www.virtualvancouver.com/news/news-92.html) who was attacked because five dollars wasn't enough? Some people are legitimately scared of helping.

I don't have a solution to the problem, I doubt you do either. I know it isn't simply and that it certainly isn't going to happen overnight.

Frankly, I don't really care what you think of me, or how you try to change the issue you first brought up. I'll ignore the veiled insults thrown at me. Again, I just don't care. Have fun e-thugging it up, hope you enjoy it.

Did you read my post?

i've already tried in previous threads. you always follow the same pattern of over-analyzing things in a political point of view. not everything's about who's left or right, except in your case. you're a special case. special person indeed. i'll give you an example of the type of shit i dont want to bother with:

nice you contradicted your stereotypes about the latte sipping lefty liberals, then played it off as just making fun of them. you're pedaling backwards, you should just stick to either joking about a certain side, or being serious. you seem to be able to keep up with the latest politics but are too stuck up to keep a solid opinion about the west coast. anyways, stfu with the politics already, we get it, you did well in social studies. that doesn't justify the stupidity of staying in a place you hate. do yourself, the asians, the greens, the homeless, the car enthusiasts, the red scorpions, the rcmp, the hells angels, the 2010 olympic committee, and revscene a favor and gtfo out of vancouver. then stay the fuck out. go live in newfoundland or something, at least there you'll be crowned a king. everyone in newfoundland loves complaining about being alive, so you'll fit right in.

then stfu about vancouver. i dont want to hear your bullshit about this city, or the west coast. every city has its problems, but last time i checked, vancouver was rated one of the top 10, so learn to deal with the problems in the place you live in, you unappreciative baby

Remember, you're the one who called BC LotusLand, sorry to burst your bubble.

you're pedaling backwards, you should just stick to either joking about a certain side, or being serious. you seem to be able to keep up with the latest politics but are too stuck up to keep a solid opinion about the west coast. anyways, stfu with the politics already, we get it, you did well in social studies. that doesn't justify the stupidity of staying in a place you hate.
I have repeatedly said I hate latte liberal lefties, I'll give you another hint: they are virtually everywhere and I'll still hate them despite where I live.

Well, maybe not Alberta, yet its too cold there.

BTW since you cannot read, there's been a few posts agreeing with the level of racism in this city. Yet we'll just ignore them to make you feel better, since I cannot always be right.

then stfu about vancouver. i dont want to hear your bullshit about this city, or the west coast. every city has its problems, but last time i checked, vancouver was rated one of the top 10, so learn to deal with the problems in the place you live in, you unappreciative baby
Ah, you definitely didn't take social studies or political science. Do yourself a favour and educate yourself, then maybe you'll keep up in discussion.

Why do you think we're voting today? Cause people get to have their say and change the direct we're going. If you don't like it, RevScene has an ignore button like most forums, learn to use it.

Please don't vote today if your vote is for "huh? nothing wrong, stop complaining, lets not change a thing". Now STFU and GTFO.

you're picking on the apparent non-existent liberal culture of BC. that's a contradiction.

open your eyes, racism is everywhere. just because you're white, in a place with a lot of asians, doesn't make vancouver a racist city. you'll just notice the racism more because of the difference between your race and others. you're not going to see how racist white people are against white people, in a white city, if you're white!!!! holy shit i thought this was basic common sense

Ah, you definitely didn't take social studies or political science.

ah, you definitely got me there. i should've studied that, instead of "How to not ruin a perfectly good mercedez benz 101"

Do yourself a favour and educate yourself, then maybe you'll keep up in discussion.

educate myself in what? analyzing situations in a political sense?

"i had to wait 5 minutes just to get extra napkins, can you believe it, 5 minutes for extra napkins in lefty loosey land. shows how conservative bc actually is. over in toronto, they gave me one napkin in exactly ten seconds. why can't vancouver be like toronto?"

yes, let's try to keep up with this, people...

Hmmmm stretch much? I said its conservative out here, not that latte liberals don't exist.

Now if you've been paying attention I said I'm from Ottawa (the most politically correct city in Canada) and that Vancouver is the most racist city I've been in, plus gave a lot of examples of what I meant by racism.

You can continue with generic replies, or address the points I made. If you wish to not continue with generic replies, then please let me know and I'll take you of my ignore list.

Ah the last resort of someone losing argument, deflect and change the subject. You're a real winner! Loser.

educate myself in what? analyzing situations in a political sense?
If you want to comment on politics, then yes. Otherwise STFU.

You can at least quote what I did say instead of making up some random DQ BS.

hey man, look im sorry. i didnt think it'd go this far. friends?
Nope. Ignore list for you.
