BURNABY (NEWS1130) - The local economy is taking a hit, as eBay says it will close its call centre in Burnaby. The company says 700 local jobs will be lost as the online marketplace consolidates its operations.

eBay says it will increase the number of workers at its Salt Lake City call centre--which has more than 900 customer service agents--and at other offices around the globe. eBay says the Burnaby call centre will close at the end of September.

Well ebay is a losing model, dont think it's due just to the economy.

Yup, eBay is failing big time. They keep hiking their fees, sellers and buyers are moving on and they can't find any new ways to generate revenue.

lol @ ioffer, it's flooded with fake shit. Nothing legit on there but there fees are really good and cheap and i like their feedback system. I would sell stuff on there if the site cleaned up all the fake shit and made it more legit.

people have more options now... ebay was great when it started because there weren't a lot of online shopping options but the whole internet business has shifted

Meh, a buncha my co-workers are from eBay, and apparently, their "google-style" outlook on slacking is what made that job so easy. Sad to see it go.
