WTB: 2 Nikon AIS lenses

I'm looking for 2 lenses. I might as well post here because this forum does get alot of views and im sure people have their old dusty nikon lenses in the closet.

I'm looking for the 28mm f/2.0 AIS and the 58mm f/1.2 NOCT.

The reason I'm posting here is because

1) A 28mm f/2.0 AIS is not worth 800 dollars just because ken rockwell says it is.

2) The 58mm f/1.2 will never sell for 4 grand or even 2 grand. At most $1500.

Thank you

G/L getting the noct. But you never know.

I got mine while working as a camera sales at LD. An old lady walked in one day with a whole bag of lenses and camera and asked me if we know where to recycle old camera stuff as cameras belonged to her husband who died few years ago.

She was moving down to live with her daughter in Florida and want to unload all her belongings. I told her she should try to sell those equipments locally as there should be buyers/collectors out there.

She then asked me to check what would her bag of stuff worth. There was a Nikon FE, 85mm 1.4 AI-S, 20mm 2.8 AF and a 58mm F1.2 AI still in its box. I told her that the noct alone should go for over 2k easily on eBay and others total over 700+.

She was shocked on how expensive camera stuff can be and told me her husband told her they were like 100 bucks each. (I lol'd when I heard this)

She ended up selling me the whole package for 1k a couple of days later. Arguably my best deal at LD.

WOW.. that's an awesome story to go with those lenses you picked up. and i thought getting a 12-24 f4 nikkor in mint condition for 6 bills was a bargain.

Short form for the "58mm NOCT-Nikkor 1.2" lens. Nikkor = Nikon. The older lenses say Nikkor lens on them, not sure about the newer ones today since I use Canon now :P. Still have the FE-2 and FM601 35mm Nikons though .

The Noct-Nikkor 58mm f/1.2 is a special lens made for night-time photography. The "special" part comes from an aspherical glass element to combat Coma* which is a common problem with fast lenses. The normal way to fight coma is to stop down the lens. Since the Noct-Nikkor was corrected for coma it is possible to shoot with a much wider aperture and hand-held shooting is possible with very little coma. The Noct-Nikkor 58mm f/1.2 was manufactured in a pretty small quantity, the production started in the late 70's and in total less then 12.000 lenses was made before they discontinued the lens in 1997. The Noct-Nikkor reviewed here was the last type to be made, the AI-S version. The AI-S version has 9 aperture blades compared to 7 blades on the AI version.

*Coma is a lens aberration restricted to off axis image points, the inability of a lens to render point sources of light near the edges of the frame as circular. Basically Coma is a distortion of the outer edges of the image preventing round points of light to be round, instead they look blurred/distorted.

which ld i work at the dsc...

also some douche is selling the 28mm on CL for 800 dollars, but I don't think he relizes that the 20mm f/1.8 sigma is a superior lens, sharper, built better and has AF for around 600.

The 28mm F2 is a sharp lens, the sigma trio of f1.8 lenses are a bit soft wide-open, but gets a lot better once stepping down.

Try Fred Miranda for a better deal on used lens. The 28mm F1.4 for example goes for 3k+ on eBay, the last copy on sale on FM was 2800OBO if remember correctly. Noct hasn't been there for a while.

Damnit Jason!!!

604-375-3042

Call me if any used AIS lenses (that would turn you on) and or d700/d2x's come through.

I totally regret selling my d300

It's just that I know nikon is releasing something in july august, and i'm hoping its a d700x.

Lol, I guess you are not glued to it strong enough, maybe try hot glue or sth?

So, senna gets through a lot of equipment?? we should do a camera swap here so we RS shooters can get some good deal.

I think I know a guy selling brand new D700 for 2500 with receipt... want me to hook it up for ya?
