So a few days ago my video card decides to mess up. I thought I had a virus, but I didn't, but I went ahead and reformatted my computer. When I went to install the drivers for my video card, after the restart and after I change the settings the video just freezes and I get lines running up and down that are green and red. I go into safe mode, uninstall the drivers and the video works just fine.

I was wondering if anyone had this same problem or if anyone knows what the problem is. I've installed two different versions of the drivers and still the same.

The video card is a zotac 9500gt.

TIA

It's been a long time but i had a problem like that with a 7900 after a format, after the format i was limmited to 600x400 res, and 8bit color, i couldnt figure it out.

there is always the chance the hardware went faulty. if not try installing the drivers in safe mode too if you havent, try difrenet versions of the drivers(which i belive fixed my problem) try a beta one thats newer or an older one...

is that a crt monitor(tube)? if so it might actully have to do with that, 1 the monitor might be pooping out, 2 perhaps the default hertz refresh rate is wrong(try 60 or 50) when the drivers are inplace, try changing thos, and if you have a lcd/plasma some where to test with to see if it changes things.
