so this morning as i was heading north onto oak bridge, i saw a really tall bus heading south getting off oakbridge. as i got closer, i saw it was a double decker, with people sitting in the top deck. it looks exactally like the double deckers in UK and HK. anyone else spotted that one bus? i'm guessing it's a tour bus from the states? the color was dark blue.

The buses have been around for ages. Their tour buses and they come out around this time of year in both Vancouver and Victoria.

yes that is metrotown, although dont expect any translink dd buses. DD buses are ideal for long haul routes, where people dont need to get off often.

Nah they work fine for any route. It's just that the passengers need to get fitter and more used to elbow wrestling other passengers.

And be less lazy and stop looking for an Elevator in a DD bus.

We have a ton of double decker busses here in Victoria, they run almost every major route. No problems getting on or off what so ever...

yup. i saw those busses in victoria.

if vancouver has these buses, i would actually considering taking transit.
they are FUCKING comfy.

better than the new tin cans with wire we have in vancouver.

actually compared to say a bline the loading/unloading is much slower, thus they work better for long haul routes to the burbs translink agrees.

alot of people who use transit are families so strollers, wheelchairs/scooters)

the current long haul buses (yellow livery usually have a 4xx route) have the same comfy style seats and reading lights like a greyhound

those orange buses have REALLY low capacity

i dont see a problem with double deckers and strollers
they can also kneel and flip out that loading platform

and its not really a matter of problem loading and unloading
how hard is it to GET READY to get off before the bus before the bus comes to a full and complete stop? (unless of course you are senior or disabled, but if u were u would be sitting at the front anyways)
