Hi Recently My laptop broke and I'm looking for a new laptop. I had my eyes set on the Macbook unibody 13'inch and it's in good time because the sales rep told me it's that time of year again where they give u a free ipod when you purchase a macbook! I've checked the prices and even with the student discount it costs a good 1400 with tax so I was wondering if anyone knows how the apple store sales system works. Is there room for bargain ? Is there additional discounts aside from the student discounts? Thanks!

student discount is the best that you can get theres no margin on laptops

the margin is so small that they will never ever give you anything more than the student discount. apple store + student discount = lowest possible price anyone can ever pay from a legit store.

Apple closely monitors the prices from what I've heard. You won't get cheaper than student discount.

yeah that's what I was told you can have both at the store as well. But even with tax it still come to quite a bit actually. What about Sony? do you guys think that they'll have a margin to deal with?

How about figuring what you want from the machine first then finding something in your budget? Brands don't really mean much.
Personally I'd pay extra to have a mac just because the usability is up there. They test the shit out of everything and that's worth the cost to me.
