Has anyone have any experiece in buying a car off of Ebay? How well is it? Is it safe? how was the process?

My mom found her 07 G35S on there. It was safe, just make sure you buy from a dealer and not an individual. Pretty much it's almost 99% safe purchasing from a dealer on ebay. We found our car from an individual seller though, we got exchanged information through ebay messages, then got on the phone. My mom asked a bunch of questions, he answered, she negotiated the price on there, they both agreed on a price, we clicked bid, paid the deposit ($500). Than after we got a hold of an inspection company in the state (CO) then we got them over to inspect before shipping, once it was shipped over, we had it once again inspected. Got the Daytime Running Lights on and inspected by a shop to have it approved. After that, we got it licensed and we're now driving it. It seems longer than it is, but main thing is you want to have good communication with the seller and it should all be fine. I would recommend it...if it was 1-2 years ago. If you're buying from the US it's almost not worth it. Forgot to mention we payed a broker to get all of our paperwork done for the border.

I think the rule of thumb is to buy the car that's within travelling range, go see it in person before clicking "bid".

well, not always possible, but yeah... usually seeing a car in person protects you from all sortsa crap

+1, it isn't alway necessary but it prevents you from any unexpected surprises. We thought it wasn't necessary as we were buying pretty much a new car with under 600 miles on it. It was also less than a year old, so we took the chance and lucked out. If you're buying say, a 2003 I would definitely try find a car and take a look at it. Try find something in the Portland area if you're buying from a dealer as there is no tax.

Yah, very risky. I remember reading that you should never buy a used car from Texas ir Florida, I can't remember the reasons why. I also read that eBay is full of flood damaged cars.

^^ Be aware of cars from Florida because of that flood few years back. But they most likely have rebuilt titles already

^ But from what I recall the ICBC regi won't say "Rebuilt" once it's imported....

only in carfax you can find out about that if you actually imported one.
