Seriously, I'd take the ugliest Ferrari (currently in production is probably California) over the R8 any day.

Audi's philosophy of always trying to compare to its competitions is what's keeping it getting head to head with other German manufacturers like BMW or Benz, let alone Italian exotics like Ferrari or Lambo. I don't think Ferrari would ever use its competition as benchmark vehicles. (Else, Ferrari probably have gone AWD like Lambos) They are always simply looking to outdo itself.

Now that Porsche takes control of VAG, we would see if that changes.

According to Clarkson, the R8 is AWD only to the point where a maximum of 1/3 of total power is transferred to the front wheels. Dunno how that would affect the drive cuz obviously I've never driven this car...
