I thought it was against the law to campaign or advertise on election day.

I received a phone call yesterday (election day) which I let the machine take as I didn't recognize the number. It was an automated announcement reminding me to vote.

At first it sounded pretty harmless. It said what I needed to vote (like proper ID), the hours I could vote, and what number to call if I want to find the nearest voting station in my area.

Then at the very end of the message it said "in these tough economic times we need strong leadership, so make sure to vote".

That sure sounds a lot like the Liberal compaign party line.


So do you think that using a Liberal slogan without actuallu telling someone to vote Liberal is a violation?

I think you're not allowed to campaign for your party but you're allowed to encourage/remind people to vote.

^^ correct. both ndp and liberals do it. infact if you tell them beforehand that you will vote for their party, they will even try their hardest to pick you up, and drive you to the polls.

also i believe there is no advertising within 100metres of polling stations. so you you are 100.1m away you can have a hugeass billboard if you so wanted.
