I tried searching but can't seem to find it on here. Does anyone know what the site is with the PDF file that shows what's approved on a car and what isn't? thanks

that came up as one of my searches but don't think it was it, the file also had a list of cars that were approved and not

you can import anything from Japan provided it's 15 years old.
The RIV does not apply since the car is over 15 years old.
Basically it goes like this.
1) buy car
2) pay for car + export costs + shipping
3) car arrives and broker deals with paperwork
4) pick up car from warehouse
5) get provincial inspection (no federal inspection needed)
6) insure car.

7) a year later find out it's nearly impossible to pass aircare without a EGR system.

well, is it worth it to import a car yourself or just buy it from the dealership. which cost more in the end?

from what I've heard it costs more to buy from an importer as their trying to make money. I would think it would cost less to do it your self...BTW what are you trying to import?

I was thinking of importing a Nissan Silvia S13 or maybe a 180SX, it's pretty rare to find a decent 240sx coupe here. I also wouldn't mind importing a R33 GT-R but those aren't legal yet.. haha

You can get the r33 gts-t already. Ive contimplated importing or buying from sum1 here, and its a hard decision. It would be awesome to get a car that noone from around here has seen before. The part that really scares me is u dont get to test drive it and it will most likely get all scratched and dented during shipping so u can pretty much add in the cost of a new paint job unless u wanna pay like 3000 to get it shipped in a container. Ide rather just buy one from a different city in bc where I can look at it and test drive it and best of all.....take it home that day and not have to wait months before i even see it, then fuck around with inspections and shit.

If its ro-ro(roll on/roll off) they pack so many cars in a little space its hard to get them in and get them out without some of them bumping into each other. Do u think the longshoreman really care about your car? no they have to move hundreds of cars a day and aren't gonna pussyfoot around and carefully take those cars outta there. My dad was a longshoreman and told me many horror stories about bringing cars in.
The GTR is AWD tho, understeer is the dirtiest feeling in the world while at the same time oversteer is the most amazing feeling in the world. Also AWD drifting is kinda boring and wears 4 tires instead of 2. Then we can also get into how AWD takes away about %10-%15 of the power compared to RWD, has worse fuel mileage......but I guess at least u can launch that motherfucker like no tomorrow but ide rather get a GTS-T over GTR any day of the week...altho ide put the GTR body kit on the gtst:D

isn't there ways of converting an awd gtr to being rwd only?

there is tradecarview.com, they've got a huge list of 180's (some SilEighty converted), Silvias, and Skylines up from various exporters all over Japan, mostly on the coasts. Otherwise, you could try to get a hold of auction info, where the quality of cars REALLY turns up there.
