Lol anybody else discover any facebook "cheats" or weird secrets embedded in it's overall coding? haha

Considering the vast majority of people here use facebook...

Try doing that famous code we all know and love on any page haha, litterally press on your keyboard;

up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, b, a, enter...

and scroll around and you should see something cool haha

Not sure if this is a repost.. but if it is then /facepalm.

I didn't want to start a new thread for this so I just posted this here.

MUST READ

Have you noticed that you are only seeing updates in your newsfeed from the same people lately? Have you also noticed that when you post things like status messages, photos and links, the same circle of people are commenting and everyone else seems to be ignoring you?

Don't worry, everyone still loves you and nobody has intentionally blocked you. The problem is that a large chunk of your friend/fan list can't see anything you post and here's why:

The "New Facebook" has a newsfeed setting that by default is automatically set to show ONLY posts from people who you've recently interacted with or interacted the most with (which would be limited to the couple of weeks just before people started switching to the new profile). So in other words, for both business and personal pages, unless your friends/fans commented on one of your posts within those few weeks or vice versa - you are now invisible to them and they are invisible to you!!

HERE'S THE FIX:
On the homepage click the "Most Recent" title on the right of the Newsfeed, then click on the drop down arrow beside it and select "Edit Options", click on "Show Posts From" and change the setting to "All Of Your Friends and Pages" (you can also access the "Edit Options" link at the very bottom of the facebook homepage on the right) Note: Business pages do not have a newsfeed however page owners should adjust the settings on their personal accounts.

The good news is: now you can now view all of your friends and fans again. The bad news is: YOU ARE STILL INVISIBLE to a large portion of your list. You must get the word out to ALL of your friends and fans by inviting them to this event or creating one of your own so they can read the post and adjust their settings. To invite your friends: Click on "Attending" at the top and then you will see an option to invite your friends at the top left. It’s public so everyone who logs onto facebook can view it and even the friends who can’t see your posts WILL see the event invitation. You can also tweet about it, create a blog post or send out an email to your subscribers in hopes of reaching them all.

It's legit and used to work a long time ago.
Probably before Facebook changed it's template.

I hate this new feature and quite frankly I believe it is a step backwards in terms of online social interaction. When you narrow the focus to a select few individuals you become more socially isolated to those people. There would be less chances of random interactions that could occur if you were getting the majority of status updates.

What also drives me off the wall is the fact that lot of these changes are not transparent to the user. Even more secrecy is added when they modify privacy settings.

.

you only become socially isolated to them if your someone whos too scared to start a conversation with others. if they only show you status updates of those you recently interacted with...then become a "social butterfly" and start talking to more people. afterall...if you havnt talked to them in months...do you really care what they have to post on their status???

Yea, cause then I can't stalk their life anymore without them knowing.

Actually socially isolated is not the right word, just less change of random social interactions or updates. Of course it doesnt mean being a shut in an only talking to a select few.

Basically you will be given less opportunties to interact with individuals you rarely interact with. This can be a good or bad thing, but for facebook, I assume they want to create larger social webs so that it promotes more and more users to use facebook more often (to generate add revenue).

Most people have more friends on their FB that they even talk to. It's nice to see updates from random people you don't usually talk to.

I mean there can be jane doe that you haven't talk to since highschool and she posts pictures of her wedding. You had no idea, but now you can congratulate her etc.

Having random news feed updates from your entire friends list is nice imo.

I'm going to put it on "all my friends" for a month or two, then switch it back. I think that'll solve the problem of it being too limited..

Secure Facebook Session

1) Account
2) Account Settings
3) Scroll down to "Account Security"
4) Click "Browse Facebook on a secure connection (https) whenever possible

This helps encrypt your facebook session which helps prevent unauthorized access to your account (ie. hacking it)
