The No. 9 Thread! What do you eat there?

so I moved to richmond within the past half year... or more or something rather.
I've been going to No 9 a lot since my hours are pretty fucked and I'd rather not eat mcdonalds or pho everynight.
No 9's menu is fucking huge, which got me thinking, there must be a lot of decent items that i'd probably never order.
so here we go.
everyone list your favourite or most ordered dish.
for those with a shitty ass memory here you go:
http://www.richmond9.com/menu.php
try to list the number of the item or have the exact item. chinese is accepted as long as you type out the pinyin or honger canto phonetics as well.
I order:
-340: No 9 delux Burger (I swear it's good. I SWEAR. if you want a greasy burger this is it).
-346: club house sandwich
-no 9 omelet (under the 24/7 menu)
-bbq pork with flat rice noodle soup/cha siu hofun (i just order it, i don't know the number)
-161: minced beef fried rice
-220: soy beef rice noodle dry (gan1 cao2 niu2 he2)
uhh that's it off the top of my head. feel free to add more as you try them out or offer semi-constructive criticism to other's choices.

I am very picky when it comes to 'siu mei' so you're right - if I say it's good, then it's good. Granted, I haven't eaten at #9 in 2 years or more, so I can't be sure if it's still good. I do know that speaking to the owners' son, they have high standards when buying their ducks, and will only buy ones that are within a certain weight. So you won't get the cheap ducks that are nothing but skin and bone. Then again, even the best places are not 100% consistent, so... Good luck!

195 Curry Beef Brisket on Rice
I order that at almost every chinese place I go to, with the exception of Hon's who make it all watery and soup like. Its better when it has a thicker gravy like curry. The following picture is from Congee Noodle House on Main St, but the curry beef brisket at No 9 looks very similar. I do find that the beef brisket at No 9 isn't as fatty or tender as other places I have been to.

The last time I went there, my food was spoiled. I ordered the wontons and dumplings in soup, the meat filling in both clearly had an odour and it tasted sour-ish. :(

I always order BBQ Duck and Cha Siew Hoh fun noodles in soup.
David, the tall night manager, is timeless. I was very frequent there over the years, and he always greeted me and knew what I wanted right away.
I left Vancouver for an entire year, and when I visited Vancouver I went straight there that night with my friends. He saw me, and said (in Cantonese) "Hey! You haven't been here for like 2 or 3 weeks! You want the same thing?"
I didn't have the heart to tell him that 13 months had passed.

LOL.
Which reminds me.
I'm headed back to Vancouver in a month. I wonder if the crazy zombie woman is still working 72 hour shifts at Kim Pehn Xe Lua.
Anyone been there lately? Is it still up and open?

yeah she is still there man. lol you call her zombie woman too!? HAHAHA yeah man she's been there since forever. i've been going since summer of 99. still 24/7 hah. i duno how she does it. i swear she works straight for a few years, then takes a few months off. that happened once. her pho serving skills are so superior they had to replace her with two guys. haha!
i've noticed that quiet, tall, tired looking chinese dude in the suit has been at no 9 for a fucking long ass time too. he reminds me of Lurch from the Addams family. haha!!!

Haha many years ago my old friend from school came to visit me in Richmond. After many, many drinks we headed to #9. This guy, from a town of like 10,000 people with no more than one Chinese restaurant, tried the burger and said it was the best he ever had!
I just realized I have many memories of #9. That and Hong Lok Yuen.

Hell yeah man. $3.99 FTMFW.
Countless drunken sessions at Zodiac, followed by stumbling to HLY and puking in the flower pots outside the front door.
Once, my friend was parking his RX in the parking lot, and he was semi-drunk, and hit another car lightly in plain view of several police officers. He walked past them, and said "its ok dont worry" and walked inside lol. The RCMP came in and said "no, its NOT ok!"

Also, agree on the preserved egg and shredded pork congee.
