: How often does your car get (bird)shit on?

I notice that there are a lot of birds out here. They seem to love shitting on my car. My car gets shit on an average of 4 times a week. The worst is when it gets hard and crusty from baking all day in the sun and you have to scrub to get the shit off.

Today my car got shit on at work, so when I got home I washed it. By the time I got to drying the car, it was shit on again. A nice big splat on the roof.

Fucking shit.

I swear to god I'm going to get a pellet gun and go postal on some birds. The headlines will read "Man goes on bird killing rampage in Victoria".

If you have just as "shitty" luck as me, post the color of your car, I wonder if a certain colour really does attract birds to shit on it.

My truck is always getting nailed. White canopy on light blue pickup.
My car is not so bad for bird shit but I think it really attracts bugs!

I made a horrible mistake last summer... I was shat on by a filthy seagull, and I didn't wash the shit on the car for a week or so (didn't have time to wash it, although it rained so I figured I'd be OK).

Took the car through a touchless car wash (something I rarely do)... and it baked the bird shit right onto my car. Now, in direct sunlight, you can see a discoloured area where the shit was baked on.

I have polished and waxed my car several times since then. I suspect it will come out with a professional detail... but still.

Kids, if your car is shat upon, wash it off immediately.

Mine's black, and only gets shat on when it's clean. No joke. I think they're attracted to shiny stuff.

My wife and I went downtown for dinner last night. Before we left I washed her Caddy and did the tires etc. Car looked great, tires were black and shiny and the rims popped. Came back from Dinner and the car was just covered in shit. Like 10 birds minimum took a dump all over it in the span of an hour, My wife almost pissed heself laughing because she knew I finished detailing it just before we left.

As soon as we got home, I hosed the car off thoroughly and dried it. The shit came off OK, but some places I noticed it was between the body and weatherstripping and hard to get out.

I looked at the other cars around and they were dirty and didn't seem to be covered in shit. I don't know if I just parked in a bad spot or if some hobo asshole saw the one clean freshly detailed higher end car and then chucked bread all over it.

It's amazing just how much shit can come out of a shithawk. Once years ago I was downtown with the 4runner and one nailed me and covered it from the front of the hood to the back hatch (that's what?? 14 feet or so). Keep a bottle of instant detailer and a microfibre cloth in your car. When they're feeding on shellfish their shit is like battery acit and if not taken off right away can go right through the clearcoat and damage the base coat so you'll never get rid of it. Open season, I'm in.

Same as most, when clean, gets nailed no matter what within a day's time. When dirty, raaaarely, if ever.

I think the statement about shiny things is dead on, my girlfriend's parents have this big shiny glass mosaic in their back yard, COVERED in bird shit. I hosed it off one week because it looked bad. Come back the next week, low and behold, no shit on the rockwork around it, but nearly all of the mosaic had a new coating.

Well the car got shit on again at work today. At least it wasn't seagull shit...

If it's shiny things they're attracted to, I wonder if the reflective sun shield I've been using for the past month has been painting my car as a big target. It's probably saying "HEY BIRDS! SHIT ON ME!!"

Robins shit on my Envoy daily and my dogs wake me up every morning at 5:30 because the Robins are out and chirping and they want a snack before breakfast.

Solution... 12 gauge... I do live in Sooke. Now to convince the wife (who's from the GTA and is afraid of guns, damn city people)

your wife is from grand theft auto? which one? you'd think she'd be all for using guns! :haha:

in other news. i have two white cars, one that isnt shiney at all and another that is usually waxed and washed. i also have a champagne colored car. the shiney white one is always a target for bird shit yet the other two aren't. i really think it has something to do with reflection and lighter colors. either way, birds are out to get us and something has to be done immeditaley.

Cornel, be glad it wasn't a great blue heron. I've seen those things plaster the entire sides of SUV's quite a few times. Flying low over an intersection, gets scared, lets loose to try and fly higher, bad scene!

This is great. At least i don't feel like the only one getting it bad this year.
For whatever reason, my blue metallic/pearlescent car has just been getting bombed couple times week every week. Especially right after washing it.
Is it fluke, bad karma, or really select objects for the dumpsters in the sky to aim for?

And exactly what Cornel said,.. if you leave it, it can be so much more worse. So of course there's the obligation to have to clean it asap. God damn..

The TL probably gets shit on a bunch, I should really check...

I have discovered living across the street from the water and parking under a tree has made my car a large target. One of my co workers has found a place that cleans car for $14 on sundays... somewhere around douglas and saanich

I really don't think birds look down and choose where to shit. I think they just let loose wherever. Their IQ is around 0.2.

If your car gets hit, it's bad luck.
