| Woman Tasered by Vancouver police in serious condition
VANCOUVER — A 55-year-old woman is in serious condition after being Tasered by police in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside Tuesday morning.
Vancouver police encountered the distraught woman, how was waving a large knife, at about 11:30 a.m. on Hastings Street, according to a statement.
Officers ordered the woman to drop the knife, but she shot back by yelling obscenities and allegedly challenging the police to shoot her.
Police say the standoff continued until a member of the crowd ran towards the woman and grabbed at the woman's arm holding the knife. Fearing for his safety, police fired the Taser.
She fell to the ground, hitting her head and still clutching the knife, according to police.
The woman remains in hospital with a serious head injury. The investigation continues. http://www.vancouversun.com/news/Wom...121/story.html |

I have a feeling the cops are gonna get alot of heat for this whole tasering thing after what happened at the airport.
But in this case, they did the right thing

and timpo, don't say this is another taser incident, it's completely different from the airport one, this woman was high on drugs and had a knife, she could've potentially stabbed one of the officers, But in the airport incident, he could've been simply tackled/wrestled and handcuffed and no one would be seriously injured, in this case the police were horribly wrong.

What if she fell on the knife?

What if she fell on the knife? | Easy. She stabbed herself. Or somebody came by and stabbed her.
Also, the officer could have been testing the tazer on the ground and she ran and fell on it and got seriously tazed.

I can't see any way the officer can, or should get crap for this.
In this situation, if they didn't have a taser, the woman would have been shot.
