This McLaren F1 owner decided to take his car out for a spin after 6 long months of storage, but the ensuing trip didn't go quite as planned. At a stop sign, the engine caught fire, which "spread quickly and consumed the carbon fiber body work

oh well, i guess all that gold foil for heat protection in the engine bay was not enough.

dude its been sitting for 6 months, who knows what got into that engine bay
a rat could easily drag some garbage into the engine bay and poof up it goes in flames.

Exactly. Anytime a car comes out of storage after an extended amount of time, a thorough check is always required. Who knows if some animal started chewing through the wires, or if it developed a leak in the fuel lines, or _____. Never assume it'll be fine.

You don't mess with perfection.

That car will be fixed..supposedly any Mclaren F1 involved in a bad accident/fire/etc is sent back to the factory to be fully repaired. I'm pretty sure all other MF1's are all still going strong.
