I haven't camped at lac le jeune but i believe there are wood ticks in that area during certain months. You may want to look into that.

I've camped at a forest rec site just outside of Merritt before, and i've checked out some of the other forest rec places in the area. I can't comment on the provincial camp grounds since i haven't been to them in the area.

Are they dangerous to humans?
does the forest rec site have a beach or lake or any sort of watering hole?

Definately read up on ticks, preventative measures and how to remove them.

Might I suggest you forget Lac Le Jeune, which will often be fairly busy this time of year, and instead head towards Penticton and check out Naramata Lake.

Sorry, i don't know much about wood ticks besides the knowing they're there. The forest rec sites are all on some small lake. The one i went to was nice, but access to the is ususally via a gravel road often several km's off the highway. When i say gravel road, for the most part i don't mean a nice, 2 car wide, relatively smooth one. They can get quite nasty, so unless you have good ground clearance or a willing to beat on your car a bit, forget it.

The okanagan has more provincial sites and other sites that are easier to access than the Merritt/Kamloops area. Just remember that going over the Coq connector adds some distance/time/gas to the trip.
