He's taking responsibility regardless. But he DID keep this stuff private, assuming everything he said in the interview is true. He never shared it with anyone and deleted it from the recycling bin. At this point (after the pictures were already taken), there isn't much more he could have done, besides physically destroying the HD. But that would of been looked as unnecessary since he didn't know HDs can be recovered like that. And he didn't plan for his computer to fail.
