You are trying to make a left turn. The light is green for turning left but red for going forward. The red car in front of you is hogging up a lot of space. I have seen this happen lots of time but never seen anyone honking.

then why would the city engineers build that lane there? what is the point of the advance turning green? yes people should be more considerate and move up a bit, they don't own the road.

i'd pass on the passing lane to get around first, if that didn't work id give a courtesy honk. it has nothing to do with being in a rush or late its the principle. and besides, there are days where people are late and its out of their control. we have enough frustration and road rage as it is, why be one to contribute to it because "its his problem he should have left earlier", that is a real simple minded reason.

honking at them and making them look back might actually teach them to pay more attention in the future. although likely it'll do nothing to help as most people are too stupid.

maybe next time they stop at an intersection they'll have a semi behind them going 80km/h. and when they notice and move, they'll thank me for the lesson of looking back! :D

This happened to me. Some guy was pulling out of the Petro Can headed Eastbound on 1st Ave at the corner of Nanaimo and 1st.

Some guy in a white F150 pulled out of the Petro Can slow as hell when I was about three car lengths away from him. He caused me to miss the light and I laid on my horn and started honking profanities.

He stopped, got out of his truck, and walked up to my car. It was about that time that I noticed the 'Tap Out' sticker in his rear window and the mini boxing gloves hanging from his rear view mirror. Normally I'm not one to pussy out of a fight, especially if its with a regular guy, but I'd have zero chance of winning against this guy. He was huge.

I did what any respectable adult would do. I kept yelling at him, fingered him, drove around his truck and peeled it through the intersection as the light turned green.

there was oncoming traffic and he didn't have a chance to turn. but he chose to honk at me anyhow. and then scream "MOVE IT ASS HOLE" our lane was moving much so i just moved into the middle of the left lane and the turning lane. He almost rear ends me cause he floors it and calls me an asshole again

so i stuck my head out of the window and told him to fuck himself.

i'm surprised he didn't' try to intimidate me by coming out of the car. but there you go.

lol, interestingly enough, I saw something sorta like this. Not quite, but one exiting Landsdowne parking lot, some idiot didn't turn right when he could have. Like there were no cars at all, for some reason he just wasn't paying attention. After honking a few times, he still didn't do anything, so the guy behind him got pissed and just went around him making the right turn.


Anyway, I probably wouldn't honk, but I should. I just don't like using the horn for some reason. And ICBC does not teach drivers how to be courteous.

Just yesterday, I was trying to make a left turn out of an inside street. This was close to a big street intersection, and the light was red. So I was turning out but because of the red light, cars started piling up. This car blocks my path, when he has about 8 feet to move up. So I couldn't get out. Stupid drivers.

I think the person who's wrongfully blocking a lane is in the wrong - not the person who is trying to make a left turn.

And FYI generally if there is a left turn lane there is probably a left turn light, and if you missed it, you're waiting 2 minutes not 30 seconds.

i had something similiar happened to me. the red car was on the right lane, but decides to switch to the left, that did not got him any closer to the lights because there was already the same number of cars on both lanes, which blocked the left turn lane for me.

this was on willingdon and lougheed, the worst possible traffic light control in the whole city.

but yea, in your situation, i'd honk. honking doesn't mean "GET THE FUCK OUT", it could mean, "hey can you move forward?" or "move please?"
