Driving without a license

I know this is a stupid question, but what if i drove without a license in a car that I did not know who the owner was and happened to be in Vietnam at the moment?
A friend of mine is letting me borrow his car since he has left for Korea, but the car was borrowed from another owner who has left for Vietnam long since.
-Please dont bash/flame etc.
dont get into an accident/dont drive it at all

Enjoy the shitloads of fines you'll have to pay, plus impound fees and don't forget you might be arrested on suspicion of stolen property. =] And if the car isn't insured, add another $600.

And if i dont look too heaty they wont pull me over so i should be all good because everything is fine , EXCEPT the driver.

A) pulled over by cops, you would probably get your car towed because you have no license, or they would allow you to call a family member to drive the car away, but since the car is not a relative or even yours, most likely it''ll be towed away.
I wouldn't risk it, just take public transit , because you would be at fault even if you get into an accident, because your not even legal to drive.

1) you don't have a license.
2) you are not the primary driver of the car.
3) the owner of the car did not give you permission to drive the car.
that's all sorts of illegal to varying degrees.
do not do it. all it takes is having a police record, let alone a criminal record, to preclude you from all sorts of jobs in the future. your entire future... versus just taking the bus.

why would somebody even ask this kind of question?? no license = no driving. pretty simple. no matter who's car it is. if you have no license, don't even risk driving. because you probably can't in the first place since you don't have a license.
ziggyx
06-09-2009, 11:50 PM
Pretty risky.. If you are really that eager to drive then wait and get a license. If you get busted who knows the judge might suspend you from getting a license for awhile? You could be 50 by the time you are allowed to get your license lol
They issue driving licenses for a reason, if you don't have one you pretty much aren't allowed to drive. Driving is a privilege not a right.

If you were pulled over for any reasons, you will face the following other than the reason you got pulled over...
Driving without a valid driver's license
Driving without an insurance
Suspicion of possessing a stolen property
This will lead to the car being impounded (at your expense) and a night at the police station to verify the owner of the vehicle and your reason of possessing the vehicle. With everything included, you will be looking at $1000+ on fines alone (considering the owner is in Vietnam and won't be coming back to claim the car for a long time).
In short, don't drive if you don't have a license and don't drive if you don't have the permission from the owner of the vehicle (and proper insurance for the car).

The car will be impounded for 60 days. The fees will add up to ~$2000, that is if you pull it out on day 61.
If you're a self-absorbed ass, you'll receive a couple of violations under your name. It's not your car, why should you care about it.

also, if you hit a pedestrian then prepare yourself for a million(s) lawsuit.
i personally wouldn't recommend driving without a license. the fact that you're driving without it will mess with your head. you won't be relaxed, constantly worried. this will eventually cause lack of confidence in your driving skills. most likely, causing you to drive sloppy.

My dad drove without insurance for 2 months in his XC70 because they had mailed it to my mom's office instead of our home because it was a company car. And then we noticed on the plates they were expired, NO ONE LOOKED!

1. Forget the heavy fines/punishment you WILL incur if you get pulled over. That's small time.
2. Forget the criminal record you WILL obtain for what will likely be construed as possession of stolen property.
3. If you hurt or kill someone you're on the hook. Maybe for hundreds of thousands of dollars. Maybe for millions. Oh, ICBC may pay the injured parties up front but they will come after you and they.will.win. If you merely damage property (another car, a light pole, etc). You pay. If you have passengers and injure them. You pay.
It's not worth it. Not by any stretch of the imagination. Trust me.

Please dont bash/flame etc.
I find this hard to do.
1) You don't have a license. If you do get into an accident, you're fucked. Your fault or not, everything will be pointing towards you, because
- You don't have a valid class 5/7N license (Saying "I know how to drive" won't help you there with the cops)
- Your name is not insured under the car. (You pay for ALL EXPENSES out of your own pocket, but with the feeling that you just don't give a fack. I'm assuming you're a MaD bALLeR that just don't give a fack.)
2) Accidents.
- "I'm going to drive as safely as humanly possible" No. You may be the best mother f*cking driver out there, some C-Lai/Fob/Old Person may still T-bone/Rear-end/Fender-Bender you. Accidents are only avoidable to a certain extent.
3) Common sense.
- Not much needs explaining here, man.
PS: You don't have a license because you're not old enough? Or simply just never got one?
I know risking my ass isn't worth it , but I really want to drive around for one day to get to some places around Vancouver with my gf and friends haha.
Then don't. 1 Day of fun (maybe a blow job LOL) isn't worth a lifetime criminal record. I care because I've almost done this exact thing with my mom's car, except I at least had my L :P

Not licensed to drive = the insurance won't cover you even if you are not at fault in the accident. Eg: someone ran a red and crashed into you, someone rearended you, you would still be at fault because you aren't supposed to be on the road. Happened before and will happen again.
Unless you want ICBC to come after you or your family (assuming you aren't an adult) for $$$, then don't do something this stupid. You have a choice.

You say you haven't gotten your licence yet, so how do you know if you're a good driver or not? I look back to when I first started driving, back when I thought I was the shit and knew everything you needed to know, and... oh boy, I knew shit all about driving. It's one thing to think you know how to drive a 300hp "beast," but it's an entirely different thing to actually know how to drive a car, regardless of how much HP or TQ it has. Ignoring the fact that you'd be driving a car unlicenced, ignoring the fact that the car isn't yours, and ignoring the fact that the insurance wouldn't cover you in the event of anything, could you live with yourself if you got into an accident while driving your girlfriend and friend and injured or even killed them, and then be forced to pay out all of their medical bills and the lawsuits that will come your way? Or are you thinking about merely being the "cool" kid who has a car, and simply ignoring the things that could happen?
I had a very expensive car written off by a kid who was unlicenced and uninsured. Yes, ICBC paid me out for it, but then they went after this kid for basically everything he (and his family) owned. The kid is just lucky that I wasn't killed in that accident. Instead of owing $100,000+ for the payment of the car, he could have owed millions from a lawsuit.

^ i totally agree, the question is, not whether he is a good driver or not, but has he even driven before, outside of video games and everything,
And I remember my first week with my L and how I thought I knew everything from watching others, and go carting, dune buggies, etc. It's completely different from driving on the road and in the city.
This kid is just an idiot, we're just feeding him the attention that he wants, I suggest closing this thread. Clearly the reason he wants to drive is for attention, which he'll get tons of when he gets in an accident.

You know what, forget what I said. Go drive. Why did you even ask on RS if you weren't going to listen to people? Fucking retard. Go wrap the car around a pole and do us all a favour.

exactly, this guy is just a retard
I have a 993 porsche thats a 300 hp beast, with r comps, and a GT2 bodykit, just sitting in my garage, Do I want to drive it? yes, Do I? no, why, because theres no insurance on the thing and I only have an L, even though I can physically handle the car, I don't. Why? because I'm not as dumb as this fuck.
Instead i'm rolling around either in a 40hp insured Smart, or the Z31 that is also insured.

listen to everyones post, and don't drive. shit happens, you'll only start to feel regret when you fuck up; "it's all fun and games until someone gets hurt."
if you're going out for a day with your gf and friends, why not just let one of your friends drive? unless you guys are all underage... and being the driver won't "impress" anyone.
you shouldn't wait for revscene to give you the green light, and say it's good to go. the fact that you're thinking about this shit already means you're worried. *refer to my post earlier.
ps. even if there aren't any cops around, why speed? there's still pedestrians and shit out there. fyi, cops don't only use crown vics.

Here's a real life example of what I've been saying all along.

I'm judging you base your decision and its not the brightest one at all.
You just said you want to drive this car around with your girlfriend and friends, if that is not showing off then what is?
What? oh, you mean privilege to show off how I can wrap a 300 "beast" around a tree?
You don't have an license. You won't have much experience at all.
Actually no, I never took the risk of driving without a license, because I think towards the future and how it would affect my career, lifestyle and the people related to me.
Yes we all speed, so chances are no matter how careful you think you are, someone speeding will just might ram into you and it'll be you're fault.

Yes, its a privilege to drive a nice car without expenses coming out of my pocket (but from reading everybody's comments there will be future expenses that will ruin my future). BUT I am purely looking only to use the car as transportation to point A and to point B, its only a coincidence that I have such a nice car to drive, in no way am I looking to show off to my friends. However, the influence of a 300 hp car really did appeal to me at first, but now i guess I have to get someone else to drive (which I hate because a G37 is fuckin sexy)

^lol u gave it away! G37 isn't really a beast though, if it's stock, and who just leaves their G37 lying around so that someone like you can easily get to it!?!?!?
but I hope you learnt that the risk associated with doing this is not worth the benefits.

The point A to point B argument is only for people who are licensed to drive; you aren't. Why would you feel the need to drive from point A to point B when could take public transportation from point A to point B?

g37 eh?? not bad. you won't handle it, period. doesn't matter how much power it's got, you got no license. you couldn't even handle a 100hp civic.

anyone notice that people have all these stupid questions that shouldnt even be asked and then they just put DONT HATE behind it expecting everyone to say ok!
i have a question---
I want to go and kidnap someone... shove them in my trunk and drive around hopped up on ether in a super fast car. Then afterwards i might set the car on fire but its ok cause i let the person out of the trunk first. any suggestions for how i can do this without any consequences....? .....wait for it
