: "final destination" in real life

An Italian woman who arrived late for the Air France plane flight that crashed in the Atlantic last week has been killed in a car accident.

Johanna Ganthaler, a pensioner from Bolzano-Bozen province, had been on holiday in Brazil with her husband Kurt and missed Air France Flight 447 after turning up late at Rio de Janeiro airport on May 31.

All 228 people aboard lost their lives after the plane crashed into the Atlantic four hours into its flight to Paris.

The ANSA news agency reported that the couple had managed to pick up a flight from Rio the following day.

It said that Ms Ganthaler died when their car veered across a road in Kufstein, Austria, and swerved into an oncoming truck. Her husband was seriously injured.

I couldn't help but chuckle,
I know it's really mean, How lucky do you think she felt after that flight,probably binged and everything, and probably used all her luck up in the last 10 days and there you have it.

it's not freaky or amazing. it's a coincidence. just because you avoid a flight that everyone died on doesn't mean you'll live forever.

the tardiness that caused them to miss the doomed flight might have been the very reason they died on the roads.

Not sure how old some of you are here, but years back, there was a guy who was involved in a head on collision somewhere on the Highway past Hope going up the Fraser Canyon. They couldn't find the body for a bit, and turns out he had been thrown on the railroad tracks. So it was like he died twice. This was in the early 90's if I recall correctly.
