Have you been caught smoking a JOINT by the police outside of BC?
TheKingdom2000
06-11-2009, 10:52 PM
Ok, so my buddy was in Edmonton and he had HALF a joint left in his car.
for some reason a cop pulled him over, and decided to search his car.. he found the half a joint.. (and yes, he does look kind of sketchy...)
he went to jail...
I don't smoke up often, but from people that do it alot say that if a cop in vancouver "catches" them they tell them to step on it or throw it out etc...
why is it so different in other places...
because i was going on a cruise that left from miami and i thought it would be a good idea to bring a joint or two for the cruise.. my buddy said "ARE YOU CRAZY" if you get caught with that in the states.. you are EFFED!

Well, smoking weed is still illegal. You may get a nice cop that'll just make you toss it. I've been busted before at a road block, with my friend. We got cuffed and thrown in the back of a cruiser. They eventually let us go, but they towed my car. Gotta love being stupid and young. :D

i remember my buddy who lived in the states back in high school crossed over a joint coming from canada to the US and got in some major shit. At first principle thought it was a cigarette and buddy got suspended for 3 days and forgot how many days when they found out it was actually weed, buddy ended up having to take a drug test and was forced to go to rehab if he didn't wanna get expelled and reduce his suspension, their so strict in the states

as taylor192 would put it
"You see, BC is very lefty liberal. Lotus land vancouver is so fucked up gay people can get married. Back in toronto, we were so conservative, we married within our own family. Not siblings of course, that's just disgusting. Anyways, I was from Ontario, we did everything properly, unlike lefty liberal BC. Im sick of vancouver even though I moved here."

locally they just stomp it out. i've had my weed stolen once by vpd too. maybe a 24hr if you're in mid session. but generally a big talking too and that's it.
i've picked up quite a few times in the states. it's easy. you just keep it at the hotel and the only time you even have it in a car is just after you get it. you don't speed, you don't drink and you don't blaze until the hotel. really really simple and easy.
but i would never cross a border or go cruising around in a car while blazing. basically common sense. besides, it's the states. just blaze before you leave and rock a drink in your hand all day.

Marijuana control amongst law enforcement in BC is lax as hell, likely due to the fact that it's literally fucking everywhere. I would say it's as easy to get weed here as cigarettes, and the best part is, the most trouble you'll get into if you get caught smoking a joint is probably a slap on the wrist.
Edmonton and the States on the other hand, might be different. Like LB mentioned, just because we see weed as part of our culture, doesn't mean the rest of the world should.

It's simple.
BC's economy thrives off marijuana. If you put the consumers in jail, they won't be able to buy weed from their dealers. If the dealers are not making money, they can't afford to buy shit. When they stop buying shit, the businesses lose money and eventually can't afford to keep employees. Employees like you!

if you get caught in the US with the joints you will have to go to court in the the US and will be banned from crossing the border again because you will have a criminal record.
Your going on a cruise to other countries as well so whatever port your in you will be subject to those laws. I would NEVER risk it in a foreign country unless they were known to be liberal with pot laws. I had a buddy take pot into Mexico and he spent 6 months in a mexican jail. scared him straight! :D

In Vancouver I've had the vpd toss out a fucking $160 half ounce and all he gave me was an unsafe lane change ticket lol
Montreal also seemed pretty lax although me and my friends were probably just stupid and didn't really clue in that it could be different than bc, but in downtown Montreal we were smoking in the street etc and none of the locals seemed to think twice
To show how much it's ignored by others in bc, me and 3 friends were walking up to game 1 of the playoffs towards gm place down Georgia smoking a joint amongst the huge crowds going forward, and besides the slight paranoia that comes with blazing I don't think anyone even noticed even as we were like 20 meters away from the gates at GM lol

Most Ottawa cops would confiscate it if its just a joint or a small bag. Some won't even turn it in, they keep it for themselves. :evil

People drink alcohol and crash; people smoke and slow down... Yeah that's one of the reasons marijuana won't be legal. But hey lets change the subject instead of trying to state accurate facts like yourself has done. Lets talk about road side tests.
Of course I can tell someone of your nature is probably highly educated with probably some form of advanced education; what I can't tell is how you're too IDIOTIC to not know about mouth swabs. Which is what police officers use to detect marijuana in road-side tests.
But you're probably too smart and educated to ever try marijuana, let alone know anything about it.
Keep trying loser, until then FOKY.

Do you know how the swab test works? Look it up. It doesn't actually test for the drug, it tests for things the drug metabolizes in your system and these can stay within your system long after the drug wears off.

Getting caught with weed on a cruise ship could land you the same charges as trying to smuggle drugs across the border or through an airport. The cruise ships travel between international waters and waters of neighboring nations.

One of my co-workers forgot she had 2 joints in the center console in her car when she was driving to Seattle with some of her girlfriends to shop. US customs found it and detained her for interogation, she was charged criminally and processed to county jail overnight. She is now banned from entering the United States except to appear for her court date and could be facing jail time.
^you know, the cop obviously knows what weed smells like and a cigarette is not going to mask that.. he just let you go.
ive been busted 3 times.. twice they just made me put out the weed and didnt even search us. the other time, me and my buddy had 3/8oz on us. we were blazing at a school at night and i saw a cop walk through the field w/ her flashlight. she saw us after a few moments and came towards us. 5 mins later, there were like 6-7 cops surrounding us. they searched us and found our weed, a pipe, and some other shit. luckily, they were there because of a reported break-in and we werent worth too much of their time. two of them took all our shit (gave us back our pipe even), and took us in the squad car to our cars, where they told us to call a friend to help get us home (didnt want us to drive high). so we pretty much got off real easy. 30mins later we were already buying more weed (duh), and when i took out my pipe, there was still a fresh fat nugget nicley packed in the bowl! true story..
they did also say that they "could" charge us for possession because we had more than 4grams (3/4oz is over 10g), but we were cooperating well so they were pretty darn nice to us lol.
one time my buddy brought weed and a pipe to seattle by accident... dumb ass... but we scored down there at a rave and put the pipe to good use.. we buried the pipe before we crossed back over. some dumbass sketched out asian kid at the rave sold me 2g for $22 bucks. i played dumb when he was charging me, and he was like, $20, which i thought was an amazing deal for seattle (i think he didnt know what it was worth), then hes like, WAIT..... $22.....
LOL good times.

true but here they dont have clear signs at the airport that tell you that you'll get the death penalty if you try to smuggle drugs. i have no sympathy for those who get busted trafficking in singapore and get hung at the airport... its one of their most clearly stated laws and its well known that they do not grant clemency pleas even through your prime minister or president.

I have traveled to many places in the world and it is my opinion that Singapore is pretty much the most perfect city state/country I know of.
Their harsh penalties are loved by the people, drug crimes are 94 per 100,000 people, whereas as Canada is an embarrassing 90,000/100,000 due to many people having multiple convictions.
The streets are completely clean, the children are extremely well behaved, cars are almost all new as they must be destroyed after 20 years (unless its an approved vintage classic), and all government subsidized housing buildings are destroyed after 30 years so state subsidized residents always live very well.
I must assume you thought that Vancouver was heaven compared to Singapore.
Vancouver = unacceptable amount of drug crimes, inferior health care coverage, overwhelmed judicial/law enforcement system, etc etc.
If you're going to apply "stone age" in a city comparison, I think you should look at Vancouver instead.

I've had several close calls, and even though they were few and far in between, all it takes is one close call to actually happen and turn your life around. Why take the risk?
years ago cops took mine and passed it to another cop who smoked for later use right in front of me. "who here smokes" other cop "i do" and takes it.

And on top of that, (1) they still have democracy (general elections are held every 4 years), (2) their infrastructure is amazing and comparable to Hong Kong's, (3) their military is also quite amazing for a country its size, (4) most people are courteous and polite, and that includes most of their taxi drivers and (5) last but not least, the Formula 1 street circuit that they build every year (I can't see it right outside my window).

Yep, it's a bad place to live. I consider it a shithole. I have absolutely no desire to visit a country like that. I don't care about how nice their public housing is, or how good their rail system is. I believe in punishment should suit a crime. Execution does not fit the crime of drug possession. I don't believe execution is a just punishment for ANY crime.

You need to learn to read. Nowhere did i say that I "love" their lifestyle, I merely stated that it is a great place to live. You must have skimmed over the part where I clearly said that I LOVE Vancouver. THAT is why I'm here. Go back to school, you clearly need it.

Wow, i take back my question of whether you were high or not. You ARE high.
You actually think that the Singaporean government (along with other countries that gives out death penalties for drug offences) is bad place to live? What are you on? I know its not weed, coz i've smoked up and it doesn't impair my logic. Those laws are meant to protect citizens from access to HARD drugs that ruins lives and families.
Dont get me wrong..I LOVE Vancouver, but I lived in Singapore for 2 years and i can confidently say that it was a great place to live.
All those reason the other posters said was spot on, I do want to add though that their public transportation system is top notch. ie: awesome MRT system, and super cheap taxis (this cant even be compared with anywhere else)
so yeah, "What a great way to live" indeed
you're an idiot. do you realize that mistakes happen? your perfect society kills innocent people. that is the inherent flaw with capital punishment. innocent people get put to death for crimes they did not commit. SOUNDS GREAT TO ME! hopefully you'll die and i just get to ride the MRT.
and governments where idiots like you cowtow and think it's utopia just makes it easier for corrupt officials to be corrupt.

I'm been drunk, stoned, tired, high, ... while driving
I hope a cop reads this. You're just fucking dumb and one of the main reasons while pot will never be legal.
Until there's a roadside test for it, it won't be deemed legal cause idiots like you will abuse it. Don't drive stoned.

you're an idiot. do you realize that mistakes happen?
Mistakes? lmfao, I guess your definition of a mistake differs from mine since i dont see how having a pound of weed on one's persons a mistake. Clearly it did not just fell into one's lap, there was effort made into obtaining such a large quantity. Your mistake is to think that having possession of a couple of joints or 10 equals having a big ziplock bag worth of weed.
your perfect society kills innocent people. that is the inherent flaw with capital punishment.
OMG, Dejavu. Seriously, you need to attend the same reading school that Great68 has to attend. Where did i say it was a perfect society? Again, I merely stated that its a great place to live. Singapore is far from a perfect society, no society is. And when did it become MY society? READ, jeez.
innocent people get put to death for crimes they did not commit. SOUNDS GREAT TO ME!
When you say "innocent people get put to death for crimes they did not commit.", what scenario are you referring to? Innocent ppl who bought sizable amount of ILLEGAL (as deemed in that country) drugs? I'm sure those "Innocent people" didn't commit any illegal activity.
hopefully you'll die and i just get to ride the MRT.
This is supposed to make sense? And I'm the idiot? sure.
and governments where idiots like you cowtow and think it's utopia just makes it easier for corrupt officials to be corrupt.
Yeaa....read this slowly so you know where i stand before you run your ignorant mouth off again:
Singapore's great but I LOVE Vancouver cause its awesome and that's why i live here. Rinse and repeat if it doesn't get through your thick skull.
FYI, its Kowtow.
