at 2:20 the car just looks so ugly, I'm probably the only person on RS who doesn't like the styling of this car though

Are you going strictly from the video for the sound and the looks though? R8's in real life both sound and look great.

And it's not really intended to be a hard core track car, more of a daily driver + sports car like a 911 Turbo or NSX.

The point on being a hardcore sports car is just that the 4.2 is already very fast, but this one isn't much faster, so I don't see the point. Sorta like carrera and C2S jump, but thats a much lower price range, so i can see those selling.

actually I've heard the 4.2 exhaust note in person and I don't like it either, compare that one to what Aston Martin makes with their 4.2 or now 4.7, even though it's not as powerful, still the sound is pretty important.

i heard the R8's exaust revving high during our recent euro meet. it was the lease impressive exaust I heard in a very long time. sounded like a matrix.

hoping the v10 sounds nicer.

funny thing is that the F430 was besided it and that car was tearing the Audi in a new hole in exaust notes and the audi owner was totally doped out. haha.

R8 just doesn't sound like a supercar, even the 911 carrera S has a nicer exhaust note and that's pretty entry level, all other sports cars >150k available in Canada have nicer sounding exhausts than the R8, no doubt about it.

well clarkson did say that is is supercar that is easy to live with, its very quiet, very unassuming, if one didn't know cars he would think its just some audi. but it performs very well.

its not meant to be a shouty car, audi's never were.

The R8 is a beautiful car, but it doesn't have that aggressive growl like a Ferrari or a Lamborghini. Porsches all have nice exhaust notes :thumbsup:

Hmm but if you look at the oddly proportioned front end + sideblade + wheels, you can see the car is all business, so Clarkson might be wrong, It doesn't look like "just any other audi" it's clearly a pure bred sports car, mid engine, quattro, R-tronic, low wide stance etc.

I have it. First ep of 5th gear that I went and downloaded. Waste of my ratio... It's tres boring.

The first time I saw Top Gear I was all "cool beans" or laughing at their shit. But after watching this Fifth Gear, I felt like I needed an insulin shot. Nothing can come near Clarkson, Hammond and May.
