| Possible first bike?? Advice opinions
So having a roommate with a harley has been a terrible experience. I hear him leaving for rides almost everynight and I want to join. Now I have no previous experience on a bike and the thought of a twist throttle makes me crinch (being a quad rider with a thumb throttle).
I went and test rode a late 80's suzuki Katana 600 thinking an older bike would be better for when it falls, gets in an accident, maybe an older bike i can have both feet on the ground, or w/e cuz its inexpensive. I did a lil research and found out they are a lil bit of a piggy: 460lbs ish, not the most power: claim 80hp and around 40ft/lbs, but cheap and a well rounded bike from what i have read.
What do you riders think? I know they are better bikes but this one is very inexpensive to get into. I will most likely be taking the motorcycle course later this yr if I buy a bike or not.

How about something like an early 90's Yamaha FZR? They are relatively cheap and easy to ride, I had one as my first bike about 7 years ago and no complaints.

Have you thought of going Harley?
Personally, I'd want either that or a Motard.

in all honesty, spend as much as you possibly can to get as new of a bike as you can. bike technology advances at a rate not seen in any other auto industry, and that technology directly affects/improves the riders relationship with the bike and the road.
the improvements made to mid-late 90s bikes over late 80s-early 90s bikes are increadable. brakes, suspension, ballance, weight distribution, power delivery and refinement and simple ride-ability are so much better its indescribable. its enough of a reason to spend the extra $1500-$2000 on a newer bike, and thats not even including the obvious reasons to buy newer of reliability and work needed.
yamaha FZR600, YZF600R
honda CBR600 F3, CBR600 F4

honda CBR600 F3, CBR600 F4 | to echo what mike just stated, the newer the bike the better.. advancments are so vast the newer you go.. for example, my previous bike was a 2006 cbr600rr... fairly stock..i now ride a 2004 cbr 600 rr... visualy the bike looks the same.. take a ride on it.. and there is a world of dif. in the two bikes.. now go back a few years more and its even more evident

yup but for 1100 i dont think i can really loose money if i sell it later on. I just need something for me to get use to a twist throttle and wont hurt my feelings if/when i drop it. shes at the house. need to get some ins, my learners, and a plate then some gear from the gf back home and should be ready to rock and roll.

I bought the bike the other night for $1100.
I got the bill of sale that night and forgot the vechile reg. He dropped the reg off today at work and said he was in a hurry and left. I look over the reg only to see that its rebuilt.
Dont you have to disclose that as a seller?
Guess I should have asked for that shit first. f#ck

or phone him up, yell at him for about 45 minutes, then ghost ride the bike into his house
and beat his ass and make sure you get $1100 worth of fun out of it

Similar happend to me a few years ago.
"No accidents" on the bike, make a deal, I go get the money, came back and fortunately I took a quick glance at the registration before handing over the cash and saw the same thing: REBUILT. I was like "WTF" and then basically then the real story starts coming out: "it was just the fairings and the fork", and had the nerve to be all offended when I walked.
Buying used sucks, especially when it comes to bikes. You have no idea what the last clown did to it.
