: I need to thank you people. (Lenux Motor Cars)

All last week I've been looking at a green Mini Cooper S at Lenux Motor Cars on Boundary Road in Burnaby.

they had been dinking me around all week misquoting (they made a 5400$ boo-boo on what I would be paying that I caught thank god), giving me wrong info, not returning phonecalls. I had to chase them around and play phone tag for them to close their own deal. I was the one buying the friggin car, that shouldn't be my job.

Finally friday night I decided to pull the plug. so I googled them found a little bit of horror stories/rumours/dirt but not too much. but the BBB has them listed as Pacific Kia so I searched that name, and as I started to learn older company names more stories started popping up (along with this forum).

drove down to Burnaby (from the interior) saturday morning, got my deposit back, backed down from the deal, went to the aquarium and saw the baby beluga (the high point of the day)

I owe you guys one. or... specifically fifteen thousand, nine-hundred ones.
thanks so much.

maybe it was a nice car, but not worth the stress and bullshit dealing with them. and not worth the risk.

best part of the experience:
us - I'd like my deposit back (my brother and I)
sleazy business manager - we can send you a cheque in the mail, tony is the only one who can write it and he's not here
us - I don't believe I'll ever see that cheque.(he then got all offended)
sleazy business manager - "why wouldn't I. you can trust us, we can't do that to you. we're a business just like any other, we're governed by the Better Business Bureau just like any other business."
us - "I checked your rating on the BBB. you have an F"
sleazy business manager - "You can't believe a couple disgruntled customers"
us - "I'm one of them"

I can't stress it enough. thanks so much

I don't know! that's the problem, I'll never know. but they were such a nightmare to deal with, I didn't want to find out. it may very well have been an amazing car.

except that it still had winters on it, needed new brakes, and had a couple little dents and scratches.

not regretting my decision to withdraw, however.

Well minis are all over so it's not like you're gonna miss out on one if you really want one.

Lenux has had many problems in the past such as money laundering and drug dealing so it's not a great place to do business at.

sleazy business manager - "why wouldn't I. you can trust us, we can't do that to you. we're a business just like any other, we're governed by the Better Business Bureau just like any other business."

Acutally.....

As of April 11, 2002: On Thursday, March 14, 2002, the Complaints Committee of the Board of this Better Business Bureau terminated this company's membership for violating the Integrity, Truthfulness and Honesty Clauses of the BBB Code of Ethics. Specifically, for charging an excessive documentation fee.

Hahahah! Once again Revscene saves the day! Maybe that'll make up for some of the people we've managed to piss off in the past... :lol

Glad to see you did your homework regarding where you thought about purchasing a vehicle from. I'll usually steer far clear of "Kingsway" dealerships unless I knew exactly what I was looking at and what I was looking for.

yes. back before they were daewoo, they were originally called rags to riches back in the early 90's. someone in a merc ML was gunned down on the lot. i can't remember what the outcome was (ie. whether they found the killer).

i don't understand how lenux is still in business?!? every day i pass by that place coming home from work and it's always desereted, but the inventory keeps changing... i mean even wolfe chevrolet went out of business and lenux is still in action

well, I don't know for sure. it may have been the best car I'd ever owned. however they'd been screwing me around all week. I live in the interior so I don't hear the rumours unless I go looking for them.

you guys and a few other places convinced me to cut my losses before I got screwed. pretty sure it was a good decision.

money laundering is 90% of the business, of course it'd stay in business.

Also I think they rotate the cars with another dealership down in Richmond. I would see the same cars that was at 1st avenue appear at the Richmond location a few weeks later and vice versa

Local man gunned down
Martin van den Hemel
staff reporter

A local man fatally shot in Burnaby Wednesday was in the midst of serving a drug-related 15-month jail sentence through an electronic monitoring program.

Richmond's Vikash Chand, 26, was gunned down Wednesday at 2 p.m. outside a Burnaby car dealership, Rags to Riches, 1790 Boundary Rd.

Chand, the owner of Final Touch, a hand car wash at 1526 Kingsway, was sentenced to 15 months in jail on Feb. 3 in B.C. Supreme Court after pleading guilty to trafficking a narcotic. But he was allowed to serve his sentence on an electronic-monitoring program, requiring him to wear an electronic band around his ankle. The plastic bracelet allows program participants to be monitored whether at home or at work and sounds an alarm if tampered with.

Chand had asked permission to leave his work and pick up a vehicle at the site of the shooting, Matt Lang, director of the Lower Mainland electronic monitoring office, told The Review Friday.

"We knew he was there."

Police recovered a semi-automatic handgun from the scene of the shooting, along with a white marine deck hat, similar to one popularized by the TV character Gilligan from Gilligan's Island.

A white, newer model full-sized van with tinted windows was seen leaving the area and may have been involved, according to Burnaby RCMP.

Police are asking anyone who may have been in the area of Boundary Road and Second Avenue and heard anything unusual shortly before the shooting to call the Burnaby RCMP at 294-7922. (Oct 14/98)

That was quite a while ago. The guy was the owner of the car wash on Kingsway and King Ed. I think there was a hit on him. Kind of scary, b/c I went to HS with him back in the day.

Who else can take cash for a car sale? No too suspicious

good question, but the buyer would have to know about the bad reputation in the first place?

I bumped this thread because I didn't want to create one for Lenux nor did I want to highjack the VIB or SCC thread... :)

you'd think the buyer would do a little research before buying over a dealership.

stay away from all kingsway dealers. period. they're more trouble than they're worth.
