My friends planning to pick up a 2009 Acura CSX(Automatic) within a month or two and hes wondering if anyone has any pros/cons about the car that they'd like to share?
Also, can anyone working in the car business(Rich Sandor? ;)) tell me how much I could get off on the CSX and what's the price before it's been marked up?
Hes looking for basically all stock, no options and no packages.
Thanks!

personally price is a bit too high for a civic, but it does look pretty good.
Drove a stock manual and it was really boring, automatic is the way to go.
Still for 30k theres cars with much more power and practicality out there, and seems like they are soon due for a new model (2010? 2011?) since this one's been around since 06

i'd rather get a GTI too
or a civic SI
i'd get the CSX b4 the stupid facelift and then try to JDM it as much as i can but now... nah... would wait for the new GTI or some thing

You can pick up demo refreshed TL's for 35k now. A lot more car, a lot more ugly too.

Yup new GTI will 0-60 faster, handle better, just as practical, DSG!!!!
for the same 30k it goes much further
obviously maintenance and repairs will be pricier,
but it's more enjoyable and a new style rather than a 3 year old one, and probably age better than a civic/CSX
As far as mods go a simple chip will go pretty far in the GTi, whereas CSX will need much more serious expensive mods.

The only pros on the 09 CSX would be that you can sell the stock rims for over one grand.

If he wants an auto, definitely go with the DSG GTI/GLI... Lots of balls, although I found the suspension a little sloppy.
The new WRX265 is supposed to be fun, but the 227whp WRX felt slow and sloppy like a family car.
The base CSX is nothing special. I drove one with the silly steering wheel shifted automatics, which is the one he's getting I guess? Gutless, slow, blah...and the new grille kills me.
If he can drive stick, the Civic Si is good fun.. not quite as nice looking as a CSX. easiest manual I've driven beside the ghey DBW garbage. VTEC is pretty fun, and if he likes the CSX he probably doesnt mind torque-less engines. Haha

LOL you'd be a horrible salesman
"For only 35k you can get this refreshed TL, its alot more care and alot uglier"
But seriously, for 30k I'd rather get a GTI, has your friend looked at the new mazda 3's?

Is it me or did I just laugh at this comment.:p
Anyway, other than the VW GTI I'd recommend the Mazdaspeed 3. Pretty fun little car to drive. :)

WRX 265 is a bit pricier, but it's also incredibly quick and got awd, not bad looking too with the facelift, much better than the 227,

Pros: It's reliable, pretty good to drive (steering feel and suspension, not power because it's got a gutless version of the K20) and you can get them for pretty cheap without the Tech package (look at demo models, you can probably talk them down to $20-22k and have them throw in stuff). I like the seats, it might be a bit firm for some people, and you can get it cheaper than a Civic EX-L which has comparable options! It definitely looks a lot better than the Civic - the Civic rear end makes me sad.
Cons: Inside pretty much is the same as the Civic excepting the seats. New grille is ugly. Car is slow as previously mentioned (it's not bad, just not up to RS standards :p). It's a Civic with new clothes. Pricier if you can't bargain down.
I don't like the Subie interior... feels like crap.

dont bother with the base... dont get it unless you're getting the type-S.
98% identical to civic (besides very very minor things here and there.... which only experts on these cars would point out..)

so why is it a pro to have dual over-head cam over single over-head cam??
I don't think there's really a difference beside one having two cams and the other having one.

agreed. the regular csx with k20 is not a rev-happy k20 with VTAK YO!!

well the R18 vs the k20 isn't much of a diff when you're driving in town with an auto.
although think about the CSX as a Civic EX-L but better in everyway, if you want a comfortable car with entry level luxury then the CSX is fine. a little pricey. but you won't find anything as nice imo.
i almost bought the type s and then realized that im just buying a honda with leather and navigation

Pro: it is the closest thing to a Type R.
Con: it is not a Type R
get something with a turbo or supercharged.

Did you just mix up the 2? Surely you can't be serious.

^well I actually never drove an automatic,
But i have driven an automatic corolla and felt that engine had a lot more pep Than the manual CSX,
The CSX wasn't very willing to rev and was incredibly quiet, (may just be a plus for some ppl)

in terms of looks CSX>>>>>>>>>>>>>civic
and as mentioned above EX-L which is similarly equipped as a regular CSX is not that much cheaper

Why are people needing to point out that it's a rebadged civic?
Obvious much?
Get a civic if you don't have the money (the sensible choice)
Get a CSX if you like the styling, and can waste the extra

Funny thing you say that, It was actually designed by Honda/Acura Canada for the CSX but Honda Japan thought the designed was nice so they also used it as their JDM civic. :)

Just spend 3-4g's more and get a base TSX.
I believe you can get $3K or more off easily from CSX.
CSX felt a bit light and it's a bit loud on hwy. Go TSX if you can afford a bit more or I4 Accord coupe for similar price to CSX.
For almost the same price, I picked up the Fully loaded 08 GT RX-8 a month ago. ;)

On a serious note, they're decent cars. I've worked on a couple, not bad. Not fast by any means, but for an all around reliable fuel efficient car you can't go wrong.

meh..i had a 06 tech for maybe 4-6months... didnt like it.. felt real small and squishy in there.. ride quality was sub-par.. HIDs looked like cheap silverstars due to lack of projectors in the headlight modules... stereo sounded like muffled crap.. the only real cool thing was the navi screen and the compact flash slot whereas you can load all your mp3s via the card..... in any case, traded it in for an 06 TSX.

so my friend just called me from the states (lives in yakima)
told me 09 TL no accidents with navi and 6k miles for 23grand USA.
I'm taking a look at it this sunday, as he has it as a courtesy car.

No point paying in extra few grand to get the CSX when the Civic is exactly the same as the CSX. Just use the price difference and get a civic and mod it.
Well of course, there are ppl that are willing to fork out dough for the CSX, then; not much I can say about that.
was the EL selling for $~28-30k like the CSX?
A little less. $28k max on fully loaded with vtec 1.7L 127HP when Civic at the same generation has little less HP other than Civic Si.
