Discussion on how to keep your car shining bright and make them heads turn..
This M5 belongs to one of my weekly maintainance clients. I've been fortunate to have been cleaning this car since new. Last year I spent over 30 hours on this car. The damage this car has sustained in 12 months will make you cry. You've been warned. The car was booked in for a Protection Detail and Two Stage Polish. Terence was available so I asked him to come out and help with this. I wanted to try a few new products as well...the Scholl polishes I got from Pirex and the Gloss-it sealants.
Engine was cleaned with AG Powermax3
Doorjambs cleaned with AG Powermax3
Tires, wheels and inner fenders cleaned with AG Custom Wheel Cleaner
Washed with RaceGlaze Aqua Bathe and $$ Washmitt
Clayed with Riccardo Blue
Terence and I split the polishing duties. He worked with Menz polishes (Power Finish/85RD) and various LC pads and I was working with the Scholl polishes ( S03+ and S40) and Gloss it pads.
Lsp was Gloss-It Gloss Finish x2 and Gloss-It Concorso Gloss x1
Tires dressed with Gloss-It Signature Tire Gloss
Exterior glass polished with Rain Science Glass Scrub and LC white pad on Flex
Leather was cleaned and conditioned with Duragloss
Total time - approx 18 hours

THis is the dirtiest part of the car and it was only dusty.
Car was mainly covered in carwash damage. Two weeks after I detailed it last year he had it in for a little bit of bodywork and they washed it. Once. And completely undid all my work! This 50/50 is off ps fender.
Scratches on trunk

A little flake pop for you
Oh yeah, we did the interior. Didn't need much as its done each week. Leather got Duragloss this time.
Thanks to Terence for coming out and everyone for looking!
ken... is there any hope for that scratch without having to do a respray? ie. touch up paint and cut polish/something?
i think i mentioned this before but i have one of those... but it's a squiggly one from a belt buckle (not by me!)
Yes. Building up a few thin layers of touchup paint and then lightly sanding and polishing could make this pretty much go away. We just didn't have the time.

Unfortunately this particular scratch was pretty much through the colour. Wetsanding is always a last resort as you remove a lot of clear coat. I wouldn't recommend anything more abrasive than 2000 grit on factory paint as its just too thin.
