I discovered yesterday my Ohlins coilover was leaking oil and it won't sound "click" when I was adjusting rebound. Also there's a good amount of oil on the damper itself.

Any recommendation or recommend repair shop, please
Thanks

P.S. I posted here since it will get alot more traffic than Tech. Forum, Please.

BU

If it’s a Koni based system, there is probably a few local joints that rebuild them. Not too sure, someone here can pipe up.

If it’s a name brand type of system, repairs usually need to be done by that particular company, so you will probably have to send it out for work. If its one of the cheaper brands, they sometimes just send you out a unit to replace the one you have that’s leaking.

You should be contacting the company that made the suspension, or the shop that you purchased it from to get an answer.

Thanks for reply, 91civicZC.

It is Ohlins Coilover. Forgot to mention.
I was searching around on the internet.
I guess my best bet is to send it back to Ohlins USA.
but I will listen to any other recommendation.

Thanks

AFAIK, no one locally has the shop, or the knowledge to rebuild shocks here. (Just look at the market we attract...)

Better to send it back to Ohlins USA

Hmmm, yeah, I don’t think anyone rebuilds Ohlins here, which is too bad. Maybe give Ohlins a call, ask if there is a recommended rebuilder, if not, fire that badboy back to Ohlin’s.

Id be really curious to find out how much they charge for a rebuild if you feel like updating.

Shouldn't be too bad in terms of rebuild costs. Now's a good chance to see if they can re-valve them if you plan on changing your springs.

this is a long shot, but maybe ask the local motorcycle shops if they know someone local? many run ohlins on their street/racebikes... but i'm not sure if rebuilding a motorcycle shock is the same as a coilover for a car

remember u dont need to sent back the whole coilover, u just need to send in the shock/strut part and save shipping.

Bender Unit,

Try giving these guys a call:

RMR Suspension (http://www.rmrsuspensions.com/) located in Abbotsford. They do work on Ohlins suspension for bikes but should be able to do them for a car.

^ Big Thanks ~ ! ^

Update:

I went with RMR Suspension in Abbotsford at the end because I don't want to deal with shipping & duty
$162.99 + TAX for Service Shock include oil & nitrogen & part.
Rod & his crew are skilled. Highly Recommend.

Ohlins USA referred me to their West Cost Service Center * Performance Shock in Sonoma,CA
They quote $120 + parts & I pay my own shipping fee.
