saw this on autoblog;):

Oh baby. The cat would appear to be out of the bag for the Lamborghini Gallardo LP550-2, as what certainly look to be official photos of the newest bull have hit the web. Details are sketchy, but Lamborghini's naming scheme keeps no secrets. Assuming this is all on the level, expect 550 horsepower from the V10 mounted aft of the cockpit, with that power going to the rear wheels exclusively. The lack of AWD should also result in some weight loss, a welcome addition in any sports car, much less a Lamborghini making this kind of power. And yes, that's a ball-topped gated shifter in the interior photo featured in the gallery. Glorious. A very serious car for very serious drivers.

It's suppose to be cheaper as well which is unfair to the people who purchased and are still waiting for the LP560.

damn, looks like Lamborghini is looking to bring back the raw-bite-your-head-off exotic car experience!

I like how they lowered the hp by just a tiny little bit. as if lowering the horsepower by 10 is gonna make the car that much safer, muwahahaha.

I think a LP-560 is about the same on a track with a GTR so this could potentially give the GTR the butt kicking it's asking for.

So why does it boast 10 less hp than the 560? I'm guessing because of the deletion of AWD is it?

That makes no sense at all, first of all i bet that its 10hp is not 10whp so its drivetrain prob has nothign to do with it. An AWD system takes more gas, and will take more power out of the car as it has to go through more differentials and axles. Say if u have a AWD car and you take the AWD system out and go straight to the rear wheels. The power is going through so many less parts it has a easier time getting to the wheels and will generate more power to the wheels

%5-%15 more power to wheels

then again i dont know much about lambos mayb for sum fucked up reason thats y.

Because if they gave you 560hp and NO AWD, you'll end up in a tree.

There is no difference between 550 and 560HP in a RWD car. The only reason they would sell it as a LP550 is for marketing purposes. Without the AWD system it's a cheaper car, hence the smaller number denomination.

In fact it probably has the exact same power output and less drive train power loss.

gnat.

there are only 250 550's being built. stop assuming its a cheaper version. its made for valentino balboni ...

ferruccio lamborghini himself hired balboni this is his last year he is going to retire lamborghini wanted to do somethign special for him. making a cheap ass car is NOT something they would do to honor someone like balboni.

check out this link you'll know everything you want to know about the 550

they made it a DRIVER EXPERIENCE car...something balboni himself would want to rip around sant'agata

ps...if you can't lease a 560 you can't lease a 550

I would say it's the different experience driving an AWD VS an RWD car. Some people may like the fact that a LP560-4 is faster than the F430 for a number of reasons, with AWD being one of them, but there are some who still prefers RWD for the experience.

On TG today they said this car will be 10000 GBP less than the 560-4?
