I don't see anything wrong with a personal trainer. I've worked with many strength and conditioning coaches in most of my sports and they've been a great help - esp rehab.
The Internets does not answer everything.
What is your friend looking for?

I have a personal trainer @ Fitness World. Tell him to go there $120/month locked in for a 2yr contract. He can get a free session the first time to see if he likes it.
