How much would you pay to rank your site?

Hey,

Just asking the community.

I have a website, and got a phone call from internet marketing firm, since I am listed as the registered owner etc..

now not going into details of me or them... but

they offered to Rank my very own site, to top 5 google organic search, and top 3 of Local search with specific keyword searches.

for $150/month. and i dont pay a penny until i see it listed. and I only keep paying if it stays up. they promise 99.7% success rate.

Is this a good deal? should I do it? i can also cancel anytime, and they will unrank my site in 3 days. Obviously im at their mercy to keep it going etc.

specific keyword searches are listed as:

plumber delta bc
flower shop richmond bc
car audio burnaby bc
accounting surrey bc

stuff like that is what they promise will lead to my website. not long tail searches that no one will ever type to lead to me.

There are many SEO/promotion companies out there. I'd rather search out one with a lot of reviews and happy customers or learn about it yourself than trust a cold-call to your whois contact number.

I was an intern for an SEO company, personally I'd say you want to work with people who revolve around the internet and can provide you with case studies. Its one thing if they worked with many clients (from small to large) but its another thing if they can provide positive results, testimonies, and examples of what they did.

Here's a question, do you think you gained a lot of your business from people who found out about you online? Also, does your business have anything to do with the 'keywords' mentioned or are they related in any way? If not, why bother targeted people searching for a local flower shop when your company serves a different purpose.
Anyways, PM me for details.

Or, you can spend a few hours learning about SEO and do it yourself.

$150 /mnth is a lot.

Besides, knowledge is power. The more you know, the better.

oh one thing i forgot to mention, they provide monthly stats of exactly how much traffic is driven to it, plus they replace your phone number on the listing with a forward number. and every call that comes into your business from the listing, will have a whisper, *this lead brought to you by XYZ company* then call begins.

my website has nothing to do with the examples I listed, I was just showing how short and common the search can be, and have me list within that window. like for example if i have a sushi restaurant in richmond.. ( i know.. alot) even thou there are dozens and all well established, they still promise my top page results in organic and local, which i think is worth it.

I think that if someone is using google, they dont know what they are looking for, or know where to go. so by being at the top or near it, you have a greater chance of creating new business.

Yes, joe blow will most likely go to a previous store/place of business he went to prior, but for something new, whatever he is looking for, google is probably no.1. i really dont think people still use the yellowpages or even yellowpages.ca/com

I have never gotten into deeply how to build an award winning website, or know the tips/tricks to code it right for keywords/tags/meta tags whatever they are called.

if I buy into it, and not happy. i can stop anytime. i might try it. probably alot cheaper than certain kinds of advertising.

there's a Google scam going on. you pay outrageous amount till Google finds out. and u r .com is blacklisted from Google. then u r DONE. The scam is good for a short period of time ( 1 week at most, is my opinion. )

I say, be careful.

If you need a free lance guy, let me know - i'm not the person, but know a couple of people who do it.
