So I've been trying to figure out WTF is wrong with my computer for the past 4 hours, I have to be up in 2 hours for a road trip, and I don't know why Itunes, and WMP won't let me burn a CD. Itunes says "disc burner or software not found" and WMP says "connect a burner and restart the player". I've tried re-installing it, looked it up on google and gone to sites and downloaded god knows how many programs, and tried fixing my registry. Any help??
Control Panel > Device Manager > CD/DVD
Is the driver OK? If it is, maybe the hw broke on you.

Apparently the driver is ok, I'm running Vista 32-bit, and have the latest version of Itunes. What do I do if the HW broke on me?

I'm assuming it worked before?
Probably the cd writer broke... in which case you would need to buy a new one.

I'd give you advice, but you're probably on the roadtrip already.

go into device manager, make sure the drive isn't disabled or something, that can happen on occasion.

buy a dvd burner so cheap now it will solve all the problems
Here's a stupid question:
Your DVD Drive says 'DVD Writer' or 'RW' and not just 'DVD ROM' on it, right?
Sorry, but it's hard to do this over the internet.

My cd-driver isn't even showing up anymore, it's all gone now! I went so far as to reformat my computer, BAH ! Anyone know where I can find out what kind of dvd/cd drive it is? and where I can get the driver for it? I have the Hp Pavillion dv2432ca but they don't have anything on the site that's useful
