Just wondering if anyone here has had any bad experiences with a car that has had the 'salvaged' title?

I'm currently looking at a 2007 Accord V6 Coupe and the cost is AMAZINGly good.. I did a car fax and all it could tell me that it was 'salvaged'. I asked the owner of it and she said that there was no engine damage, just body damage..

Should I be worried about the car breaking down on me while I'm driving or what?

I think it's safe, i mean everything that needed to be fixed was probably fixed by an ICBC certified shop, how much money are we talking about here? 10-20%? which is only like 2-3k really, but keep in mind that the car will be harder to sell. Engine probably won't be breaking down like that though,

See if you can find records of the repairs, and what it was on

salvage=rebuilt.

who is the seller? a curber, or the shop/individual who rebuilt it? ask for pre-repair pictures.

go to your honda service dept. and ask them what they think about warranty and rebuilt cars :(

also hope that you're planning on keeping it for awhile because reselling a rebuilt is tough unless you're giving it away at an AMAZINGly good price (no malice intended)...

Can you get pictures of the damage from before? That should be able to help you decide.

My parents bought a rebuilt car, it was fine for a few years but now there's problem after problem.

if the car is "SALVAGE" it was not likely repaired by an ICBC certified shop.
SALVAGE title occurs when the car is written off - the value of the repairs exceeds %75-%80 the value placed on that vehicle by the insurance company including taxes.

I would guess that an 07 Accord V6 Coupe would have had in excess of $15,000 damage to total loss it, then a private individual re-built the car.

The quality of repairs is going to dictate the price of the car. If it's too good to be true.... they probably cut a few corneres to save some $$. (IMO)

unless you know who did the work, I would stay away from the car. Remember, if it's too good to be true , then walk away

depending on the damage the car, there is a really good chance that the car isn't as structurally safe as it was before the accident. If the shop did a poor job then the car will not react as it is supposed to in an accident. If thats not your concern, you can also encounter other problems like parts not lining up or wheels not wearing down properly + more.

i see this alot... they say "it was just the door"... how much does it cost to replace/repair a door? it can't be that much to write off the car???
