Yesterday my dog got all his teeth extracted (bad oral health, getting old, etc) and I am wondering what are some suggestions for food to feed him? He is an American Eskimo and is 14 years old.
I would look into things like dehydrated diets. When you add the hot water the food turns into a porridge. That or start soaking the dogs kibble in warm water for 15 mins or longer to soften the kibble.
Thanks for your input guys. We're feeding him canned food now, and bacon strips broken into smaller pieces. He seems to be adapting pretty well, I'm speculating he must've already started not using the teeth since they caused him so much pain before
With the canned food make sure it's something that is designed as a meal. I would look into Medical . It is more expensive, but most other canned dog food doens't have the nutrition required to be the main diet.
