I like the idea of it because it's a *now* technology for a good number of people. I know that electric charging is somewhat limited to people with their own homes due to the ability to meter the power, but that could change. My ideal solution would be further development in the battery department. If you could make cells light enough to bring in and plug into a charger, there's an easy fix. Even if they end up on the heavy side, but they're still easily changeable, you could have battery co-ops or exchange stations in place of gas stations. Pull in, tech takes your dead cell and drops in a fresh one for a nominal fee, and off you go.

While I agree that hydrogen is a great source of fuel, the inrastructure for it is still a long way off. Not just in terms of dispensing it to the public, but in terms of producing it in the first place.

I also see the development of electric cars now being relevant to hydrogen cars once the infrastructure comes on line for it. I say this because hydrogen cars are essentially electric powered cars, they just store their energy in hydrogen form, instead of in electric cells. The DC motor technology will be the same for both storage forms though, and we may as well start improving the efficiency of those systems sooner than later.
