Depends on who you ask and how well you take care of your bike.
If you do regular maintenance (i.e. oil changes every 3,000 kms), the bike can last anywhere from 70,000 kms to 100,000 kms before any major work needs to be done.
These are terrific bikes, and if well maintained can easily go up to 70k+ on the first engine.
The KMs are a little high, but the price reflects that..it just shows that this bike has been ridden, and not stored for most of its life :P
Lots of life left on this guy if its well taken care of!

my bike has 52000 k.
my first bike rolled through the odometer before i sold it.
I usually put on about 20-30k a year. MORE than i drive my car.

For an 03, that actually has low mileage.
40k on a 6 year old bike means that it averages just over 6500 k a year.
in a season of riding, for a RIDER, not a starbucks poser, you can expect to put on between 5-9 thousand k on a bike.
Put it this way, when you like something, you do it a lot. If you like riding bikes, you ride them a lot.
I've done 1500 km in a single sitting. a solid 13 hour ride.
just think about the first time you got your licence and or your first car.
