Alright so today i purchased a 8000k HID kit from HID outlet and started thinking hmmm are these going to fit on my RSX?? since the original bulb uses x-clips and the hids have no housings what so ever i asked if these will actually fit. They definatly reasured me and what do u know they dont fuckin fit. There is no way to hold them in place so now im stumped. I researched the hell out of this problem and apperently you can buy these modified x-clips somewhere on the net or cut the original ones and stick the hid bulb through! I dont want to start any cutting so im wondering if anyone has expirience with this issue and how to solve or where i can buy these x-clips locally. Thx in advance!:thumbsup:

You might want to take into account that those are illegal for road use in BC, before you expend any more energy on making them fit. If you get caught with them, you'll most likely get a fine and a VI notice, which means you'll have to take the car for inspection, and you'll have to put all the original lighting back in before it will pass.

Just something to think about before you beat your head against a wall over putting them in....

well im not sure if you can get them locally, but yes you will need to modify your x clip to make it fit, or go online and buy the x clip. Go to clubrsx you will find more details. What i did was hack the original x clip, wasnt that hard as long as you have something to hold the clip like a vise.

Ya that VI was a pain in the ass and i dont want to go throught it again but knock on wood i never got any concerns about HID's even tho mine were also 8000k. I talked to the HID outlet over Revscene but they just told me to come in and check it out personally but she couldnt really keep up a conversation hence why i got kinda got fucked over or misunderstood.

With that being said, Xclips online are only 30 bucks after shipping, so its not too bad ordering online for something like that.

Or you could take a hot hot saw blade and it'll cut a perfect line into your current X clip. Or you could just make your own xclip from pieces of plastic.

4100K - 4300k is what OEM is. If you're going to go around blinding everybody, at least make it worthwhile for yourself. Use 4300K.

It shouldn't be like that. Kelvin (the 'k') is the measure of the colour temperature. If you're buying a bulb marked for a certain rating, and it's wrong... well... you're probably buying shit to begin with.

The OP is beating his head against the wall trying to make his illegal mod work.

This seems rather pointless given the fact that no matter how pretty a job he does, how much time, money and effort he puts into it, or how much he beats himself up over it, it will still be illegal, and if a cop catches him and decides to enforce the law, he'll be forced to take the car off the road (or may have it taken for him) and it won't be allowed back on the road until the lighting is returned to stock.

It makes about as much sense as building a house in the middle of a railway crossing - no matter how much work you put into it, eventually a train WILL take it out, and you've wasted all that effort.

However, I think everyone on revscene knows that HID CAN be considered illegal. He just asked a simple question on fitment. But everyone started saying irrelevent things.

With that attitude, I would almost -- ALMOST hope that you get hit by an oncoming driver that you blind... but nobody deserves to be hit.

I have no real problem with HID retrofits being illegal (that's your VI and your issue to deal with if it comes up). I do have a problem when those lights are blinding me. Also, I do dislike people who think that they're entitled to something by being obnoxious. Incidentally, "moving over" doesn't work because there is so much glare being sprayed all over the place by your headlights.

Please have some consideration for other people on the road. Their safety is at stake too.

I have no real problem with HID retrofits being illegal (that's your VI and your issue to deal with if it comes up). I do have a problem when those lights are blinding me. Also, I do dislike people who think that they're entitled to something by being obnoxious. Incidentally, "moving over" doesn't work because there is so much glare being sprayed all over the place by your headlights.

Please have some consideration for other people on the road. Their safety is at stake too.

Fuck dont make it sound like oem kits are not blinding, who you trying to fool? a lot of times 3 series, suvs, cross overs are just as fucking blinding towards on coming traffic. Why? because hid are brighter than halogen period, and at night they really stand out.


exhausts are illegal, clear corners are illegal, tints are illegal, lowering your cars are illegal, adding big body kits are illegal, changing your shift knob without indication is illegal. retrofit a stock projector into another housing is illegal, so wtf is the point to retro fit other than aiming it better and looks better, at the end of the day? still illegal according to the stupid book. hell i even heard intakes are illegal from a cop, so who the fuck gives a flying fuck jesus christ

I've been reasonably polite to you, so I'll just say this:
Study a little bit about optics. The dispersion pattern from a reflector is less controlled than a projector so you'll always have substantially increased glare -- and if you point the lights so far down as to eliminate glare, you're reducing the amount of light going where you want it to go.

What I say isn't going to change your mind obviously, but maybe it'll edjamacate someone else.

in order of annoyances on the road from most annoying to least annoying...

1) ppl that dont signal
2) jay walkers at night wearing dark clothing jay walking across a street that is no where near a street lamp!
3) ppl that drive so erratically that you cant really guess their driving moves by cues they do
4) high beamers, the blue light on the dash does not indicate ur headlights on
5) purple hids (12,000Ks)
6) cars with systems blasting them but no money to invest in dynomatting for their trunk.
7) ppl that stand way out from the corner of an intersection making it hard for anyone making a right turn
8) bicyclist that dont obey the road when you are suppose to treat them as a car
9) ppl that feel its their right to cross the road, especially at a designated crosswalk w/o the "STOP WHEN OCCUPIED" sign. doesnt matter if u got balls, you fat woman weigh 250lbs, car weights 2500lbs minimum = car wins either way!)
