[G-spec]

I've narrowed down my search to only 2 sets of wheels and I can't really decide so I wanted to check in with the local community and the guys I'll be seeing at meets and hanging out with to get your opinions. The wheels will be going on a white G coupe.


Now below we have two sets of wheels in the same exact specs (sizes, offsets) I would be getting.


First choice is burning black with polished lip, and I would have the rivets painted burning black as well for a cleaner look.

Second choice is much more fitting to the car and would complete my black and white theme. I would get this same exact setup except I would have a white time attack vinyl strip on the wheels.

yea most people are suggesting the VS XX's cuz it's a safe bet and everyone seems to like the style.
And the T1S step lip is a lot more rare and you don't see it around much, so doing something a bit different than everyone else can also be a good thing.
95% of the responses on this and other forums have been for the VS XX's, I'm definitely leaning towards them, and I've listed the pros and cons backing up the logic behind it as well..



VS-XX (all pros, no cons)
- massive lips, 4.5 inches front and 5.5 inches rear
- burning black face looks awesome on white car, chrome/polished lip makes it pop
- you can see the design of the wheel a lot easier as opposed to all black where you really have to look closely so everyone would know right away what it is even at a glance which isn't the case with the black T1S


T1S (1 con and it kinda bugs me)
- step lip makes the stance look more aggressive
- this setup would complete my car's black and white theme
- all black wheels at a glance look like steelies or cheap and knockoff, you really have to look closely to see the shape and know what type of wheel it is,

I don't think people are going to mistaken T1S as steelies or knockoff when you're rolling around in that snow white paintjob of yours. Their subtlety and the fact you have to look twice makes them better

Don't be a tool. Go for T1S, original. It looks tight. You can tell the majority of the people on this form are just trend whores.

If you want VS-XX, do it right and get BBS, it'll make a world of difference and you'll be more baller than having some play-out JDM wheel on your car. T1S, don't think about it anymore not to mention it matches your car's stance well.

my last post explains well why I'd go with the VS'XX, they look flashy and balling, chrome lips and burning black face stick out like a sore thumb, but in a very good way...

but my modding style has always been subtlety and cleanliness, the perfect blend of OEM and AM, so for me to sell out right now and decide to go with something flashy that would contradict what I've been putting together for the last year and sabotage it in a sense doesn't make sense either....

I would say the T1S as it fits your car's style better. Subtle and original. If you want the flashy look, just like what other have said, get BBS man.

true that the VS-XX are almost everywhere (coming from someone who is running them)
but the rims themselves are truly beautiful and will make your g35 look extremely good (not saying the T1S wont but just in a different style)

i regret having my VS-XX in matte black and wish i could save some money to repaint it gold :D but seeing that it seems like you purchased your HRE's and your widebody, i'd say go for the rim that isnt near the style of your HRE's not sure which style you went.. but im guessing it would be similar to the T1S? if so go for the VS-XX :D

yea kchan I know what you mean, black car on gold wheels makes it pop like crazy in a good way you should get that done because black spokes are harder to see




the specs on the wheels would be, I would be doing both in negative offsets

VS XX --- 20x 10 front (4+ inch lip) 20x 12 rear (5+ inch lip)

T1S ------ 20x 9.5 front (3+ inch step lip) 20x 10.5 rear (4+ inch step lip)






fck this is really pickin my brain, one day I'm 100% decided on the T1S, then I wake up the next day and find another reason to go with the VS's.... I'm thinking I should just pull straws or something, I can't remember the last time I've been undecided on something like I am on this

b-dub I never brought the HRE's over the border, they were at point roberts for over a month while I waited for the kit to arrive so I can pick it all up at once.. I sent them back to the guy for a refund when I realized he couldnt come up with the rest of the kit. If you want I can get ahold of this guy again, thought he didn't come up with the kit, he was dead on with his wheel hookups... just PM me the specs of what HRE wheels you want and I'll talk to him about it, he got me a really good price.


yea the white pinstripe is a must... and yea I realized as ballin as the VSXX's are they are way too common, I've always done my car a bit differently than others I think I'll stick to that and go with the T1's... already talkin to my wheel guy about it =p

the answer to your no over fender but have huge wheels question. roll the crap out of the fender til the metal can no longer stretch and the paint cracks and you can fit the widest possible with no over fender. also with a skinnier tire to allow stretch and wheels line up with the fender perfectly and the tire just gets tucked into the wheel well. pm me if you're interested more. i could probably find you a better size fitment for you if you want to stick with the WORK VSXX another choice would be the WORK VSKF both wheels offer lots of offset sizes.

so I'm talking to my wheel guy and holy shit, he informs me of brand new Work Equips released for 2009.... the Work Equip E05...... I uhhhh..... I hope I don't get flamed for doing this especially after all the help you guys have been... but I'm scrappin the T1S and doing these instead.... I'm always trying to be as original as possible in the G community, and the T1S has already been done, but this hasn't yet... so I told my wheel guy to go ahead and put the order through an authorized work dealer, I'm keeping my fingers crossed and hoping they arrive fast, I wanna be one of the first G's with these wheels. I don't know if they're even taking orders for these wheels yet, still gotta figure it out

^ you got yourself a killer set of VS'XX's yourself, I already know where your preference lies =p

the Equips on those 350z's are the older model, they're one of Work's best selling rims of all time.

And unless I get really and I mean REALLY lucky, I might get them before the RS meet. I highly doubt it since a set of custom VS'XX's the usual wait time is anywhere between 3 and 8 months from what I've seen with other guys. I'm gonna have the center spokes delivered without any paint so I can have the spokes and rivets sprayed with a semi gloss black which would give it a satin finish to match the car, and the lip will be polished and not chrome, if I curb chrome wheels the closest place that does re-chroming is in California. With polished lips, I got Greens or Panthers here locally.

and yea they look similar, it's the same basic 5 spoke design, but that's always been my favorite. I actually had picked out a set of 360 forged Straight Five wheels I was going to get way before I even considered the VSXX and T1S... only problem is, around the time I was getting ready to place the order 360 forged reputation started going to the shits, they might be on the verge of bankruptcy right now so I don't feel safe sending money there.

I'm still in contact with the 360forged guys and they still trying to sucker me in, I got a quote for $3700 for a custom sized set in 21 inches, which is a crazy price and cheaper than these Equips... but at least with Work, I know I'll be getting my wheels brand new and without problems...
