Iranian jet crash kills all aboard; 168 feared dead

A passenger airplane crashed in Iran's northwest on Wednesday and all aboard are feared killed, according to state media.

The plane operated by Iran's Caspian Airlines was heading from Tehran to the Armenian capital Yerevan, state news agency IRNA reported. The Tupolev aircraft crashed near the city of Qazvin.

The airplane was destroyed and the wreckage was ablaze, Qazvin emergency services director Hossein Bahzadpour told the IRNA news agency.

"It his highly likely that all the passengers on the flight were killed," Bahzadpour said.

He would not confirm how many were on the flight. IRNA reported there were 150 passengers.

Al Jazeera reported there were 153 passengers and 16 crew members aboard.

It is not clear what brought the plane down.

So many plane crashes of late and just yesterday a Southwest Airline had to make an emergency landing when the cabin pressure dropped because of a football sized hole in the top of the plane.
