: Testament to BMW safety? 135 headfirst into telephone pole, driver unhurt

Fainted driving to work this morning, and went headfirst into a telephone pole at ~35-40mph. I am completely uninjured. Car is definitely totalled, engine guts spilled on the road.

Sucks that the 1er died, but impressed with the crash performance.

Guy on TT crashed into standing truck. According to his words he was going at 90 mph and then smashed into truck standing on the roadside. He has got just a small scratch on the hand and that’s all. Lucky thing. Look at the beautiful winter forest by the way.

I was busy looking for a cd when i looked up... 2 18 wheelers were over taking each other.

I slamed on the brakes a good hundred meter before I went under the trailer I was doing 140km an hour. I still remeber looking into the dashboard before I hit the rear of the truck. Thanks god I bent over to the other seat to protect me head. Believe it or not I walked out of it considering the fact that I am 6ft 2" tall.

would suck to faint behind the wheel, especially if your going too fast

The first TT driver is just plain dumb if he really was doing 90mph in that kind of weather.

how do you just faint out of nowhere?

guess it must have been a crap job and the driver just didn't want to go to work :o

how do you just faint out of nowhere?

blood sugar issues could do it..

That doesn't look like a very serious accident, and I would actually be surprised if the driver WAS significantly injured.

the cabin of the 1er seems untouched. That's amazing.

If they were passed out... how do they know how fast they hit?

They could have hit at 10 mph... now THAT would be a reason not to get a 1-series... "damn thing fucking fell apart when I touched the curb!!"

Of course he's uninjured....there's no one to sue!! If the BMW had been hit by another car, I'm sure the guy would be lying in a hospital bed with a phone strapped to his head and the lawyer on speed dial!!

wow, a testament to crash safety in today's cars.

as for the TT in Saudi Arabia, that guy was just fucking lucky as shit that he decided to crouch at the last minute. or else he'd be headless.

At first glance, it looks like the pole(s) are Photoshopped in but...oh well.

"fainted" Okay.

Look at his wheels littered with brake dust, and tell me he probably wasn't driving like an idiot before that happened.

Lol, actually that's typical BMW brake dust if you don't clean your wheels everyday especially in hot weather and it looks like he has BMW performance brakes which are even worst. You should see my wheels after a few hours of driving, my wheels look like I haven’t washed my car for days.

One would figure Demolition man technology could eliminate injury. Note to self: what have I done??

Years ago, I had an old Integra (back in about 1999). A Boxster hit me nearly head-on at about 50km/hr.
My engine compartment was crunched halfway in, and totally undriveable.
The Boxster's front bumper was dented in and the radiator was leaking fluid but he just drove off! I was really impressed.

Yah, the SRT-8 Brembo brakes have crazy brake dust but I've noticed that the 300C's have no brake dust at all.
