Dear revscene,

My mom rarely, like once in a blue moon washes my clothes. Anyways, she did today and I came home from work, I see not 1 or 2 but 5 lighters of mine next to the laundry machine. I need an excuse before my parents smash me in. My dad found a dime bag in the drivers seat before, I used the it's my friends excuse. I doubt they believed that, but i got away.

I can't use firecrackers as an excuse, because the lighters were in seperate hoodies. I think I fucked myself over on this one.

smoking pot is perceived by most growing up in Asia as something just as bad as doing cocaine

They'll understand after awhile. They'll hate the idea, but as long as you don't start to slack off in their eyes, it should be all good. It took awhile for my mom to get used to the idea that her son was a pot head, but at some point, she realized that it didn't affect me negatively, and laid off. She still wasn't keen on the idea, but she was tolerant.

I also downplayed how much I smoked it (every fuckin' day). :)

Sitting together and just talking, two minutes later "so what's the plan guys?" "let's pick something up" in the end everyone just gets bored and kicks it home.

I totally agree that weed makes otherwise 'normal' things like watching t.v. or eating way more enjoyable but i've never 'craved' a joint like i would a cigarette. I dunno, maybe that's just crazy me.

If you cared about your parents and how they felt, then you should tell them exactly what's going on and ask THEM for help. be honest, it may hurt now, but it will hurt more later.

Parents always worry about their son even if they don't say or show it. My parents react the same towards my brother, but if you do not have the will to quit, you wont. Think about your parents, why do they raise you for 19 years? just to get you smoking pot? Sometimes they do not want to believe you're bad or more like they don't even know what they can do and they can't figure out why you've become this way and in the end, without you seeing more likely, burst into tears. I saw it myself. (I ain't the one smoking though, I respect my parents more than smokes and drinks)

My mom blamed herself for my pot smoking. Things like, what she could have done differently so that I wouldn't have started, blah blah blah. She cried, and although I did care, I wasn't about to stop smoking weed because of it. I had the will to quit, but I didn't want to. I loved smoking pot. She was ignorant about it, and thought it was on the same level as crack.

Every time she bugged me about it, I used it as an opportunity to educate her on it, and why I smoke it. Mothers worry because that's what mothers do. My dad supported my mom, but he was mostly passive on the whole situation. In fact, when I had a few plants growing in the basement, he'd try to help me out and water them haha.

The addiction to weed is mostly mental. It's not a physical addiction like cocaine, where your body needs it or it freaks out. I was a daily toker for 14 years, and I would sometimes quit for a few weeks at a time to reset my tolerance. There were no ill effects, other than a mental craving the first couple days. It was always good times when you take that first toke after not smoking it for a bit.
