Accident- Quick question- need help

my sis got into an accident with her car hitting the neighbor's garage...

2 quick questions

1) Should he report to ICBC? Is ICBC appropriate strictly to automobiles and not houses and thus, he won't be able to claim his neighbors house.. right?

2) Is there a guideline that said if you have 3 or more accidents within a year, you will get charged a penalty from ICBC? If yes, how much is the penalty?? (car insurance i'm talking about)

Serious replies only. your help is really appreciated.

Thanks

Garage would be taken care of with home insurance, and if you choose to make a claim to ICBC, they will fix the damage to the car and it will affect your discount. How much depends on where you are on the Claim Rated Scale.

Was it the garage door or the walls of the garage that were hit?

Do you mean "she", as in your sister, or "he" as in your neighbor? Your neighbor's claim would be with their home insurance policy... and assuming that your neighbor does make a claim with their home insurance carrier, their insurer could seek to recover costs from your sister (or more accurately, recover costs from ICBC on your sister's behalf).

Not really, but have enough at-fault accidents and you can be looking at an insurance surcharge. For an inexperienced driver, one at-fault accident can be enough. I don't think the house ran into your sister's car so if she makes a claim for her car damage, she would be at fault.

Three accidents in a year including driving into a stationary structure? Serious response, your sister needs to cut up her drivers licence like it's a bad credit card and never drive again.

Your welcome.

How do you drive into/hit a Garage door?

How bad is it?
How fast does ICBC need to take away her license?

No no.. I thought accidents into stationary structure counts as accidents regardless, whether it'd be accidents with cars OR stationary structures.

can you explain this to me? last time i checked, ICBC is a monopoly and whatever they say goes.

[QUOTE=Blinky;6512111]Do you mean "she", as in your sister, or "he" as in your neighbor? i meant should "she" make an ICBC claim?
Is she obligated to? I mean, it's a stationary structure after all...

I know if it's car vs car, then she has to report to ICBC. but if it's just car to stationary structure, does that change the circumstance?

Also, I heard that one can take their time to report to ICBC and it does not have to be within 24 hours if it's not a serious one (ie. with another vehicle, or somebody getting hurt), is this true?

you can do that when you thought your car is in reverse and gas it, but it's actually on D.

I'm with the previous poster. Sister needs some more driving lessons. It'll save her some serious coin in the future. What if it had been a person or a baby stroller in front and not just a garage? Just sayin

claim it to icbc, and the neighbour will claim it through house insurance. most likely icbc will pay for the damages

If someone hit my garage and I knew who did it I wouldn't be claiming it through my house insurance, pay a deductable and possibily increase my premiums down the road. I'd contact ICBC and tell them the plate number of the car that ran into my house and ask them what there going to do. If that failed I'd sue the person that hit my house.
