Friggin #3 road.....do we really need all those little strips of curbs with little shrubs on it? And they are putting the automatic watering system every 10cm on every single one of those tiny little curbs.....
And watch all those watering thingy to be on when it's actually pouring rain outside too....
I want my tax money back......

have you noticed that there are benches installed right beside sprinklers? they have built little concrete block thingies to have the benches bolted onto them...but then there are also sprinklers installed on both sides of the concrete...
its like...who the fuck would still want to sit on the benches when the sprinklers are going on...or even 10-30mins after they go off...the benches are fucking wet? @.@

Coz it looks pretty....?
They'll add anything possible with the most expensive materials just so that it'll go over budget. And then they'll tell transit to whine about not getting enough funding......:(

neone notice how there are sections that have 2 lanes drawn but there's really only one and a half lanes because of the centre island intrudes into the lane?

Lol. I remember driving into Parker place and I was like why the fuck would there be a small curb in front of the entrance way. My car has stiff suspension and oh man was that bad. I don't fully understand the curbs. At least make it flush with the road in front of the entrances. But at least they got rid of that stupid bus lane in the middle. That was retarded.

Anybody notice that in Richmond they repave roads that don't need paving but the roads that need paving they don't do anything about it?
Example : 4 Road between Alderbridge and Westminster. That didn't need paving but 4 Road between Westminster and Granville need major repaving.
Granville between Garden City and Gilbert. That also didn't need paving but Granville between 4 Road and Garden City need huge amount of work. It's like the person who put in the work order wrote down the wrong block.
Also 2 Road between Francis and Granville. Nothing was with that road.

It's the cities way of trying to take back the roads after the sudden influx of C-Lai's in big SUV's. They don't know what to do anymore with the city, its getting taken over by the plastic welding hat army.

lol... I live right in the block of no2 road and gilbert by francis. That road was FINE the way it was but they had to fuck up the traffic pattern there for a good 2 weeks for no reason. I'm assuming they repave No.2 Road because its one of the main connecting roads to Vancouver in prep for the 2010 Olympics.

I take No 2, Garden City or No 4. Never No 3 until they repave that sucker.
And never on Saturdays when the C Lais are out and about.

I rather drive further down and loop back, than to have to take #3 road at its finest. I remember driving from Richmond Pro (behind Vader) all the way to Parker Place and it took a good 30 minutes :lol

The worst road in Richmond hands down and has been for a couple years now with NO work done on it to fix it is Lansdowne Rd. between #3 and Cooney... holy crap... both lanes you can destroy your car on in front of that stupid Versante building... what a joke... worse than 3rd world country roads

What if they close a lane for bikes? And then add like little fish ponds under the skytrain bridge with trees and little squirrels that can play in the grass, what a great view while tourists are stuck in No. 3.
I almost got crashed into on No. 3 road by some dumbass c-lai in a Mercedes ML who can't fucking follow the lines on the road. The lines swerve, so I swerve. Guess what? The c-lai goes straight, right into my lane! They need to repaint the roads STRAIGHT for those Richmond drivers!

oh yeah...
watch out for the curve when drive past super store.
the left lane gets smaller and drivers tend to cross the line.
I noticed 90% of the drivers always cross it so I never drive side by side with other cars on that section.
Its best to let them go first or you can speed up.

Here's another reason to hate #3 Road ->> You just washed your car, it's a nice sunny day, you drive down #3 and WTFBBQ the sprinklers have soaked the road... SPRAYYYY all over your nicely freaking just washed car... dirty again....
Such a bunch of assclowns who designed that road.
Hey guys, me and my friends have been wondering : we just noticed the no.3 road skytrain only has one train tracks ... does that mean there will only be one train running at a time ? how many people can fit on those train at a time, and how long do i have to wait before the next train comes? What im building on is ... IS IT GOING TO BE WORTH THE FUCKING TIME THAT I HAVE WASTED WAITING ON NO.3 ROAD?
slammer111
07-19-2009, 10:02 AM
^ From what I can see, it's 2 tracks running parallel, on 1 concrete tube-thing.
I'm pretty sure 80% of No.3 is going to get repaved in the near future. How do I "know" this? The asphalt is maybe 30mm below the bottom of those curb pieces. The road surface is "grooved" as well. This is standard procedure in road construction. Just chillax and wait a couple more months. :)
We all know that they seemed to mess up the order of the different phases all throughout the contruction. I mean, whose bright idea was it to dig up ALL of Cambie at the same time? They are probably just spending all their resources on getting the line active, and will clean up the roads right after.
The one thing I do NOT get at all though, is why they didn't build the bike lane closer to the pillars. Combined with fewer trees in the middle, they probably could've squeezed in another car lane all the way down to Westminster.
OP, if the benches do end up getting soaked every time the sprinklers turn on, I'm sure a short email to the City of Richmond would get it fixed pretty quickly. You wouldn't be the only one complaining either.

i can easily think of several big reason why they would rip up cambie first then lay everything in. the cost of renting the equipment. its cheaper to rent heavy duty digging equipment for 6 months than 3 years. in addition, theres many aspects to consider, such as the logistic nature of delivering the materials to the jobsite (deliver all at once or one at a time), segregating the line into smaller projects is better than concentrating all your resources at one point, etc etc.
of course the disadvantage of having a better bottom line is people using the street and neighboring businesses will be affected negatively.
the real question you should be asking is why did they promise to bore the line into cambie rather than dig and drop.

A couple points, The Skytrain gets split off by the casino 1 way both for the airport and one way up 3 rd. Atleast i think its one way to the airport might be wrong about that end. Also anyone else notice that railway from when granville turns into railway up all the way to francis got repaved twice in about a month maybe two?

No3 is massively screwed up - two lanes suddenly becomes one, one suddenly becomes two... WTF Lines just disappear and reappear whenever the FUCK they want. I avoid that stupid road, everytime I am forced to take it I have a huge rant. To make matters worse, C-Lais driving MLs and X5s not shoulder checking, keeping their blinkers on, and generally doing whatever the hell they desire on the road. I think their huge sunglasses are blocking their view. Then theres the lack of planning; at first I thought maybe the government will be smart and tuck the bus stops into the spaces between the skytrain pylons - but NO, they just let them stick out so they can screw traffic up even more..

nothing in richmond makes sense. doesn't seem like anything in richmond is ever planned or thought out properly.
seriously, just look at aberdeen. who the hell thought it would be a good idea to design a parking lot that stops ALL traffic in the parking lot when ONE person needs to park or back out

^^^chinese engineering. get em in, keep em in.
another bad road is alderbridge, just past no3/minoru and beyond, where it curves and eventually intersecs with elmbridge. with all the condos that went up there, someone forgot to fix the damn roads! if u ever try to park on the side of the street there, the 1ft of road between the curb and the street is like 2inch higher than the road.
