So I went to a garage sale today and bought a shoot load of old hockey cards. I was just wondering if anyone knows where I could go to sell/appraise the value of the cards?

How old are you talking about? 50s? 60s? 70s? 80s?

You can get prices from price guides like Beckett but as with all sports memorabilia it's only worth as much as what the buyer is willing to pay. You can try to find local hobby shops to appraise or buy your cards. I remember Collector's Den used to buy Pokemon cards at around 50% of the market value.

If your stash is full of 90's cards they're most likely worthless unless they're individually numbered or rare cards with pieces of equipment on them. You'll pretty much have to wait until the players start dying for your collection to be worth anything.

odds are everything you bought is pretty much worthless

valuable cards are all just rare prints or rookies, and even then alot of rookies are not worth more then $50 and thats only if they are 10/10's and becket appraised

value = rarity + condition

condition is pretty much everything though

Haha that's when everyone started collecting cards.. 91 or so, Upper Deck and Score. I used to collect UD and my brother would get Score. I'd buy Beckett guides every month, and see my awesome Ed Belfour rookie card and Dominik Hasek rookie card were "worth" like $50, and hologram cards were crazy.

Then the market became oversaturated, and they all became worthless. :lol

Totally, unless it's something really rare or old in great condition it probably isn't worth much. I have some 70+ year old baseball cards that although worth more then a couple bucks aren't as valuable as one might think.

I've got a few hundred cards lying around, but I'm pretty sure that they're not worth anything.

Ya, I just checked the cards, and they range from 84-90. There are a few cool rookie cards in there, and for 10 bucks I think I got a pretty good deal (2 binders full of cards). So no one knows of any local stores I can check out? And this garage sale had tons more baseball/basketball/hockey cards left, if you want to check it out it's on Fromme st. in North Van in Lynn Valley

these are the type of cards that are actually worth a tonne of dough, there are probably 10 times more "new" cards that have insane value oposed to the old cards kicking around, and this one isnt even a 10/10:

its really all about patches, signatures, and rarity

you can buy the series "the cup" now, which is a box with 1 pack in it, that has 8 cards for $400
